There will always be that guy that cuts you off on the freeway or takes the last beer and doesn’t bring more. There are assholes everywhere. But once in a while, an epic, twice in a millennium, timeless, Grade-A, blistering, festering, reeking asshole comes along and you just have to share with your friends and enemies and most definitely your coworkers that somebody like this actually exists.
Meet Marcus Epstein. Conservative. Buchanan Aide. Hate criminal.
I’ll let the facts speak for themselves, since he pled guilty:
On July 7, 2007, at approximately 7:15 p.m. at Jefferson and M Street, Northwest, in Washington, D.C., defendant was walking down the street making offensive remarks when he encountered the complainant, Ms. [REDACTED], who is African-American. The defendant uttered, “Nigger,” as he delivered a karate chop to Ms. [REDACTED]’s head.
Yes, Virginia, you read that correctly, a karate chop to the head whilst calling the N-word.
Oh, and he is also the co-founder of ‘Youth for Western Civilization’, whose mission statement reads:
“Youth for Western Civilization will educate, organize and train activists on campuses across the nation to create a culture that will promote the survival of Western Civilization and pride in Western heritage. This movement is focused on the support of Western history, identity, high culture, and pride and opposition to radical multiculturalism, political correctness, racial preferences, mass immigration, and socialism.”
So, before his Facebook was set to private this morning I was perusing his pictures and I saw that he had recently taken a trip to Ethiopia. Among pictures of camels and historic sites was a picture of some sort of tapestry on what looked like the ceiling of a tent. It had what looked like some sort of female shaman embroidered onto it. So this douchebag writes as the caption: ‘It aint no Cistine Chapel, but you know what Samuel Johnson said about dogs walking on hind legs.’ Well, I didn’t know who Samuel Johnson was or anything about dogs walking on hind legs, but I do now:
Samuel Johnson: “Sir, a woman’s preaching is like a dog’s walking on his hind legs. It is not done well; but you are surprised to find it done at all.”
Anyways, it probably isn’t serving any purpose to heap more ill will onto this cat, but he really has it coming. Just google his name and you’ll find a littany of publishing work that he’s put out with titles like: ‘El Partido Stupido: A Review of Leslie Sanchez’s homage to hispandering, Los Republicanos’.
I understand that he had his acceptance to University of Virginia Law School retracted yesterday for failing to disclose his hate crime. Is hate crime even descriptive enough for this hate criminal? Let me rephrase. Clearly it does not. I was just surprised that there was no mention of alcohol in the police report or anywhere else on the internet regarding the incident.
He was the kind of kid who would be getting kicked out of the bars by 10 every night (we didn’t have a lot of bars close to campus so you knew who the drunks were.) I find it hard to believe that he wasn’t drunk when the incident occurred.

This kid didn’t have a lot going for him growing up. He was a short, jewish asian kid with a serious lisp. He liked ska music and his parents were divorced (and I believe his mother started dating his uncle.) This kid was bullied more than anyone I’ve ever met. Anyone. People were so mean to Marcus it was crazy.
Sure, he was probably bullied in part because he displayed some of the venom that he’s shown to contain…but there’s no question that these years of being bullied contributed big time to what he has turned into.
Again, not justifying anything…just saying. Treat people right or they become someone like Marcus.

He also earned his way in to one of the best law schools in the country. Not everyone with these kinds of awful opinions is going to so dramatically shoot him or herself in the foot. By questioning whether the Jews accidentally died from diesel fumes from the trains on the way to the concentration camps, rather than from deliberate Zyklon-B poisoning, he lets the neo-Nazi Holocaust revisionists know that he is on their side, but can tell the mainstream that he is merely rigorously pursuing critical thinking.
In short, he subcommunicates. That is what the “1.0″ website to which you refer is getting at when it refers to Buchanan’s enunciation of “RUTH … BADER … GINSBURG” and some of the other things that he says.
Mel Gibson and his dad do the same thing all the time with respect to the Holocaust. It was only when Mel was extremely innebriated that the mainstream found out what he was really thinking (e.g., “The Jews are responsible for all wars, etc.”).
The evidence of Buchanan’s anti-semitism is plain to see, and no cherry picking of his words is necessary to see it, but I am happy to take the quotation in which he praises Hitler off the table, and merely look at all of the other evidence. When he talks about “appeasement” of the “U.S. Jewry” … does it take any secret decoder ring to see that he hates Jews?
By the way, anti-semitism has only recently precluded someone from operating within the mainstream. Winston Churchill, T.S. Elliot, FDR, Richard Nixon, and even Walt Disney were anti-semites all.
And MSNBC, owned by GE, is hardly the standard bearer of anti-defamation. They pay controversial figures to appear on their shows for one reason and one reason alone: profit. If people stopped watching MSNBC on account of Buchanan’s presence, then he’d be gone in a heartbeat.
Don Imus’ show enjoyed national syndication for years despite his persistent defamatory remarks about African-Americans. Even 60 Minutes reported that, while the tape wasn’t rolling, Imus told the 60 Minutes reporter that he kept one guy on the show for his “[n-word] jokes.” It was only when something Imus said got lots of public attention that he was thrown off the air.
Let’s hope the same thing happens to Buchanan so that he becomes even further marginalized than he is now.
