ahw. it was nice running into you, Joel! we actually went back to try to say hello to you again in the fader fort, but we lost sight of ya! we spent that day trying to land some free jeans and raybans. we ended up empty handed, but well drunk on free beer. nicely done on the pics!
(p.s. not to defend michael stipe- but it did actually get a little chilly during the first couple of nights. he does look pretty ancient though, huh? almost obi-wan kanobe, like. right?)
Yeah, the first night when REM played wasn't warm.
Some of the pics feel like deja vu. Was John Doe at SXSW? Was he really wearing the same thing he was wearing when he opened for Wilco at the 9:30? You'd think he has enough money for a different shirt. Maybe it's his lucky shirt.
Also, there are definitely repeats in there - two of the same pic of Stipe, two of the same pic of that guy from Vampire Weekend. I know I'm not hallucinating.
Oh, and the viola player who played with Jens Lekman is actually a recording artist in her own right - Marla Hansen. She also plays with Sufjan and My Brightest Diamond.
Did anyone see Okkervil at SX? I hear Charles from the Wrens is playing with them now. Was he at SXSW?

if you saw the technology used for uploading BYT photos, you'd be amazed THEY'RE NOT ALL (at least) DOUBLES.

The third big picture is the Resurrection of Shannon Hoon from Blind Melon and Joel caught it on camera! Am I right, or am I that crazy guy who sees the face of Jesus in a pizza and sends it to Weekly World News? I think that guy lives in Flordia somewhere.
