Vivian Girls are pretty much the cutest AND coolest thing rolling out of Brooklyn right now.
(and that is saying something)
I mean, just look at them in their blond-redheaded-brunette trifecta of “something for everyone” approach:

And the music is really good, we (and others) swear.
Backstory: For those into (modern) mythology, you know that, as recounted in songs by Comet Gain and Walker Kong, the Vivian girls are the seven sisters who featured in Henry Darger’s posthumously published fantasy epic, The Story of the Vivian Girls, in What Is Known as the Realms of the Unreal (if you have not seen the documentary-see it now), of the Glandeco-Angelinnian War Storm, Caused by the Child Slave Rebellion. They’ve also been paid tribute by everyone from poet John Ashberry to Sufjan Stevens, …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, Camper Van Beethoven, F***ed Up, the Residents’ Snakefinger, and ex-Maniac Natalie Merchant.

Fast forward a few years, and here we have the noise pop darlings of the same name which, after self-releasing their debut album are on tour celebrating its wide release, and in the process being described as: swirling noise topped with sweetly angelic vocals is practically a can’t-miss concoction, so expect your fruity neighbors and your attention-starved friends to chime in with unabashed praise when you spin this record
(just listen to “Where do you run to” and you will get the idea)
Anyways, the girls are playing DC9 tonight (along with Slumberland’s Crystal Stilts) and Baltimore on Friday and we asked them to send us a few postcards from on the road.
This arrived in the mail yesterday, just for you.
Its sweet, funny, and as intimate as their music.
