Where Andrew Bucket goes to SXSW and makes amazing videos for us. In this episode: Max Tundra, Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Thermals, Rainbow Arabia, DURKL fans in Austin and MORE.
Not a lot of sandwiches here. In Austin Texas they realize that a sandwich is only a glorified handful of food. Get yourself a taco and forget about your vegetarian issues. No cow is safe here, because tacos are 2 dollars. What else is 2 dollars? A 24 hr pass for the bus so you can get to a show thats 17 blocks away, a Lonestar beer, a shot of tequila, and probably get another taco, but get chicken this time. Now get some free stuff like ADMISSION TO THE SWEETEST SHOWS! and demos from bands from all over the world who are just walking around meeting people. Get some Corona lanyards that look like backstage passes, but just have a special code for their website which may in fact win you.....some Corona flip flops.
Your stupid sister will love them, don't worry. SxSW is a confusing premise, but makes total sense in practice. Its essentially a lot of "showcases" which are just free concerts that you can either show up for like a normal record nerd, or buy a really expensive week long pass that will get you into a more exclusive show with the same band where nobody dances or gets too drunk because they are "working." Take it from me, spend the money on booze and tacos. Also, whatever band you're excited to see is probably going to play at least 9 times before the week is out, so don't sweat it if your friend is walking slow and doesn't have a room key. In short, Austin rules and this thing is totally worth the drive. (yea you should drive, puss puss)

Rock on
bam bitch! that just blew my mind.
classy through and through.
i think we should use "brightest young thing: the only blog that will: impregnate you and you will still want to carry the baby to term" on a future flyer or something.
What is SXSW? For real.
Michael, it's a giant music / film / art festival that pretty much takes over Austin, TX for a week every year. Short for South by Southwest

Nice work Andrew! Looking forward to seeing moe, moe, moe!!!
michael -
though you are still dead to me, i was wondering if you are blocked at work from seeing the shit show or if you still think you are too cool for it.
eddie - I am definitely too cool for it. I don't like the name.
i've heard that more than once from a couple of people. i don't have a problem with it.
youre both dead to me fwiw but i dont think anyone noticed
That was wonderful - thanks Andrew!
eddie - it's not that I am against a name with "shit" in it. It's just that:
shit show: The most over-used reference to a night of intoxication with friends that ultimately leads to moments of blackness and dissaray. Girls often refer to their nights as shit shows to help exaggerate the fact they only had two drinks and want an excuse to fuck brad the dickhead down the hall. The easiest way to tell someone is new to partying is by them referreing to a night as a shit show after 2006.
"Hey Teresa , this party is such a shit show, are you enjoying your o'douls?"
Even if one were to use the more tame definitions the message board doesn't fit it. It's kind of boring and seems forced. My opinion of course. I don't see the need for it.
can we please keep the shit show talk at the shit show and keep the comment for this here?
its tooo good to be polluted with personal notes.
but svet, michael doesn't go there. he would have never answered my question. it's called being resourceful.
ANDREW - i liked this piece. makes me want to *drive* to austin..
