At one point during Sebastien Tellier’s brilliant set at Hiro this week, I crawled up on stage and perched myself on a speaker to shoot. I’m not sure whether it was me, the dress, my kitten like-stance, or the 4.5 inch Proenza heels that did it, but all of a sudden Sebastien was on the floor in between songs trying to look up my dress. The French dudes in the front giggled (hon hon hon), and I battled feelings of creepiness and flattery.
I have such a strong attachment to Tellier’s music, both new (Sexuality is out now-ed)and old, that I let it slide and continued dancing. The show was amazing – absolutely, breathtakingly, heartbreakingly beautiful. And when he played “La Ritournelle,” which is one of my favorite songs of all time, my whole body froze in a bout of chills. I could curl up in a ball and listen to that intro till the end of time.
Towards the end of the hour-plus set, Tellier conducted a revealing rendition of “Sexual Sportswear,” equipped with moans, the mic-ing of his crotch, and (in my favorite Max Fischerian terms), a handjob for the mic stand.
And in the weirdest way, it was pretty hot.

The photos, as per usual, are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.
