In the grand tradition of all things crafty and DIY in the district comes THE SUMMIT OF AWESOME: this weekend's MidCity festival-a-thon of, well, craft and DIY. SERIOUS craft and DIY, hosted by your friends at Hello Craft. If ever you were looking for inspiration (or how-to) to legitimize your indie business, this is it. Discussion panel topics range from "Branding and Identity" (with Jeffrey Everett of El Jefe Design) to "Organizing a Craft Fair" (with members of ICE, Handmade Arcade, and Brooklyn Indie Market).
The Summit of Awesome, as one may venture from the name, isn't all BIZ. There are tons of crafty-type workshops and demos (including an entire "Make Something Awesome Area" at Miss Pixie's), and huge incentives for the Etsy-obsessed (AKA every girl I know): both lunch with the company's CEO Maria Thomas and screenings of the documentary Handmade Nation are on the schedule for Saturday.
