I will say-Project Runway, you're already letting me down.
I have been so excited for you to come back to me, for us to spend frivolous yet oddly meaningful Thursday nights together, for old memories to flood back and new memories to be formed...and nothing. We're on episode two and you're already feeling kinda blah.
First of all, it has become just too easy.
In seasons before there were weird materials, cars that were being ripped apart, wilting dresses etc etc
This season: its episode 2 and guess what? You're just making dresses still.
Sure, this week it was for a pregnant lady (Rebecca Romijn, preggers with twins and in 4 inch heels, guest judged) but in this era of empire waists and godessy draping, all it took extra effort wise was to buy a stretchy fabric or something.
Also-there are no break out stars.
Johhny, the meth head crier from last week was very quiet and studious this week, producing a muted black dress and not shedding a single tear.
I at least hoped that some of the parents in the bunch would turn a watery eye toward the camera and tell us all about the child they're missing, the baby they lost, the little bundle of joy they're separated from for the sake of this contest-and nothing. NOTHING. For chrissakes, this is Lifetime now, we need some human drama.
Everyone just worked their little fingers away in the work room and you knew Mitchell and Malvin were in trouble because:
a. the camera spent a lot of time on them
b. Mitchell sucks
c. Malvin has the potential to not suck but is too involved in his own need to be esotheric to actually think clearly
d. Mitchell sucks.
Did I mention how Mitchell sucks?
He was the only one with "maternity wear" experience and he decided to make satin shorts and then made fun of how big the shorts were (which I am sure made both "Sherri" and "Drop dead diva" pissed off during the commercial breaks), he made fun of Ra'Mon's dress (while flirting at the same time), complained about everything and made a horrifying BRIGHT WHITE CLINGY tshirt on top of the disasterous shorts and still had time to overpluck his eyebrows and be a little bitch to everyone.
And Malvin, poor soul, took some sort of a "nest" and "egg" idea and ran with it in any which chicken way he could. It was sad and funny and sad to look at him and his delicate little bone structure talk about "being conceptual" when all he was being was nothing but painfully literal.
In the end, Shirin won for he wine colored dress/coat combo(a smidge drab in my opinion but well done and tasteful) with Althea (who I hope will be a sleeper hit here) and Louise (who is trying to look as sophisticated as Louise Brooks pretty hard but has an unfortunate arm tribal tattoo which indicates an aesthetically misguided youth, which I cannot wait to hear about) trailing her in the top 3.
The bottom three were the M&Ms and Ra'mon who while trying not to be safe, just became stupid.
Malvin was sent home which means that now the only 2 genuinely weird people are gone from this show and I have to look at Mitchell's constipated little face for one more week (even the models in the misguided "Models of the runway" episode follow up all collectively decided that Mitchell cannot saw, and that's saying something).
UGH.
That is all I have to say. Tim had almost no screen time, Michael Kors wasn't even there (its kind of like the rats jumping the sinking ship, this episode), and Heidi was not given enough chance to be German and hilarious, which, lets face it, is why they pay her the big bucks.
You can do better Lifetime, just try.

i loved sherin's dress, not so much the coat though. and althea's dress should have won, imo.
Mitchell is the worst - and I'm surprised I'm having such a bad reaction to him. I think him being boring is just symptomatic of problems with the new show overall. More Tim. And move back to New York already!
i am glad Malvin left because i couldn't bare another episode of his face. TOO CONCEPTUAL FOR AMERICA, HE SAYS!!!

Mitchell should have been kicked off last week. Mitchell should have been kicked off this week. He's turning into the Wendy Pepper of this season. Just get him off already.
The chicken egg thing was pretty awful, but I liked Malvin's dress last week.
Also, for the second time Heidi said "This looks like something I would have sewed. I cannot sew." Or something along those lines.
Come on now Lifetime, at least edit to make it more exciting.

Malvin actually had to be talked out of incorporating something that he likened to "chicken thighs". what the fuck is wrong with that guy?
and mitchell seriously sucks. he made what basically amounted to a pair of satin boxer shorts w/ a belly band.
i agree that lifetime really needs to make these challenges more interesting.

And props, Allison, Chad, I completely 100% agree. BTW. Did you notice that maybe someone with stretch marks on her thighs or some extra fat in thigh/ass area (I'm sure some women get these things during pregnancy) does not want to wear booty shorts that are too short for a nonpregnant woman to wear let alone ...sigh. Never mind. Just glad he's gone. Dayam, he was annoying. The only non-annoying Malvin Vien moment was when he said something to the extent of "The other designers have talent and just havent discovered it yet" or some patronly bs, which is sort of true. Many of them are still doing that monotone silk sheen type dress that is basically the StandIn for any PR project by now.
best of craigslist byt moment: ps after reading some local news with photogs of S and Cale, about BYT, the following event transpired. Svetlana i think i saw you on a the greenline once and you sort of smiled a halfsmile and while i , terrified out of my mind tried to perfect a similiarly appropriate half smile that wouldnt freak you out with my overt enthusiastic overfriendliness, the moment ended and you looked down at your book in disgust. sorry. i wish i was cool like you. i liked your red muted plaid flared at the bottom with a flounce type thing jacket. if that was you. if not, i am cool, and disregard this post.
in all my attempts to be cool still cannot sum up all thoughts in one post. working on that.
anyhow. Completely forgot how much i hated Plus Size's HOOKER dress. No wait make that, wanna be NBA stars babymama except im too fat and cant get his attention dayam even though this is three sizes too small on me dress.
Final verdict: ramon's ugly.

Sorry folks but...Shirin is too safe for me. I see her designing clothing lines in the back room at JCrew or Banana Republic, not as a leading designer in her own right.
Also I really wonder how Epperson got on this show. Hes not annoying and seems cool as a person but his fashion is bulky and not flattering. Seems to be flying under the radar now but...wait til the competition shrinks and there are fewer players in the game.
