Project Runway: And Then There Were 8

Project Runway: And Then There Were 8

We did not liveblog last night.
Probably for the best.
But, much like every morning this week and every Thursday morning till the day I die (or this season ends) you get a classy recap of something you saw, DVRed or ignored.

So-here we are, at midpoint of the ticking time bomb that is season 5 of Project Runway.
By all means it does seem Nina Garcia has been done away with (second episode in a row, she’s not around) probably as part of the whole sordid mess of the Bravo/Elle/Project Runway contract expiration.
I kind of miss her.
Her and Michael were fully comfortable and bitchy together. I didn’t need another Scully to test drive every week with my Mulder, I don’t need a new editor/stylist to hang out with Michael till something bites or clicks, ok?
Just bring Nina back.
Thanks.

In actual contest news, a lot of the annoying people are gone which makes the show less annoying and also less fun (not that it was that much fun to start with).

This week Diane Von Furstenberg, all tanned legs, cheekbones and privilege, whizzed by and asked the designers to make a dress fit for a spy, fit for the DVF collection!
Which they’ll actually make!
And sell!
To AmEX customers exlusively! (the show should really be called Project-Product-Tie-In at this point).

Anyway, everyone gets excited.
And nervous.
And hence a little more annoying and high maintenance.
And….
And on each others nerves.
You see how that vicious cycle works?
There is a lot of Terri hatin’, a lot of cockiness, and overall really nothing looked that good to me while they were making it.
On the upside, they’ve cut almost all of Blayne’s catchphrase attempts out.
THERE IS A GOD!

Now, in case you were wondering whether we are the only ones who hate Kenley…we are not!
In the “exclusive snippets” which they showed during “Top Design” (the lamey interior design show that just replace the lamey “Shear Genius”) IT IS OBVIOUS EVERYONE THINKS KENLEY IS ANNOYING.

Did I mention: THERE IS A GOD?

Anyhoo, one runway later this is what we got:

With Korto, Leanne and Kenley predictably on top (they can already smell Bryant park)
and Joe’s disaster, Stella’s bat cape and Suede’s hot camo mess in the bottom three.

Fully and rightfully, Leanne wins second one in a row (go team Leanne!) for a number so slinky and perfect it deserves to star in its own movie (Kenley was mad, but Kenley had no right to be mad, because Kenley’s dress did not even deserve a supporting role in Leanne’s dress movie, ok?)

Stella got eliminated (Joe really should have been the one but hey…they have their reasons) and she went off, no tears, no nothing, back into the arms of Ratbone and their inevitable reality tv show

At this point you may as well stop watching because Leanne WILL win, Joe or Suede or Jerrell are going home next, it is just a matter of sequence and Kenley will day a slow, torturous death at the hands of one of her competitors. My money is on Korto, whose nerves are as short as her silhouettes are long. Or something like that.

I’ll miss Stella and all her “Leatha”

I think Kenley is really cute…and I liked her dress.

if ever they make another movie version of ‘the sun also rises’ leanne’s dress would be brett ashley’s best friend.

kenley sucks, and i’m tired of her crying all the time. i’m sure if i were in her position i’d cry a lot too, but i’d be embarassed. i am so sick of pity parties.

i liked suede’s idea, but he didn’t execute it well. i would love to have anything made in the fabric he chose though.

i think suede is going home next week.

and i think you meant that kenley will “die” (not day).

The loss of Nina means less consistency for the show: it’s like mom has left the family and dad is bringing a new floozy to the dinner table every night to arbitrate our family matters.

did she leave permanently? because i’m pretty sure she’s going to be back next week, or at least that’s what it looked like from the previews.
