Dislaimer: This is not a style-guide. This is not about fashion. This is not even judgmental. This column is about people on DC’s streets. People, who seem as if they put a thought or two into their outfits before leaving the house. People, whose look is working – for them, in their own opinion.
Every day we follow passersby at their heels for five minutes to find out where and how they shopped and have them answer five quick questions about their look.
No particular scheme. No particular price range. No particular beauty standards. Just an outfit that for any reason caught our eye.
Hughlynn, 38 musician/ artist
Why him? The glasses, the glasses...

Jeans: $180, G-Star

Sneakers: $20, Beacon's Closet in Brooklyn

Jacket: J. Lindenberg, the jacket is a sample and therefore "priceless"

Bag: $70 Manhattan Portage
Glasses: $600 Alain Mikli
You've invested quite a heap of money in your outward appearance. Are you dressing to impress?
No, my style is rather personal. I like sales and samples, stuff that is not full prize. I don’t think about clothes too much. Fashion is a moment, it shouldn’t be planned. You have clothes in your closet, you wear them. It’s as simple as that.
What was your personal style disaster?
White tight high-water spandex pants. I got rid of them after a month.
Is there something that you can't stand?
Guys who need girls to pick their clothes.
What about girls who have guys as shopping advisers?
I am one of those guys.
And what do you usually recommend?
Tights and flats.
God loves a cheerful giver.
Hughlynn, huh? Idnn't that Sonny?! Finally, you all caught a man with style.
why, this is post-ironic, isn't it? and $600 for THIS eyewear? I'll be fucked if this is not post-ironic.
but those glasses are not worth $600.
bend over Ernest, this is clearly poly-neo-irony more than anything
the glasses are raw, but that jacket is fucking on point. I love the asymmetrical zippers.
"this is not about fashion" um...
...so I guess this is just another typical BYT music review!
Those glasses are totally worth $600. Alain Mikli frames are hand-made in France, with exclusive acetate from Italy.
haters.
