Disclaimer: This is not a style-guide. This is not about fashion. This is not even judgmental. This column is about people on DC’s streets. People, who seem as if they put a thought or two into their outfits before leaving the house. People, whose look is working – for them, in their own opinion.
Every day we follow passersbys at their heels for five minutes to find out where and how they shopped and have them answer five quick questions about their look.
No particular scheme. No particular price range. No particular beauty standards. Just an outfit that for any reason caught our eye.
Why her? So natural.
Alexis, 24, a Program Manager with Dreams for Kids (Non Profit Organization)

Sweater dress: $80, BCBG, from a Nordstrom Rack

Coat: $240, Miss Sixty

Bag: $130, longchamp

Boots: $189, bought from a boutique in Chicago on a Black Friday
You are not wearing any jewelery, how come?
I actually make my own jewelry so I almost always have a piece on. But today I was running late to work!
You are carrying an original longchamp with you, are brands important for you?
It's cliche, but brands are important to me especially with something like a hand bag. I carry my Longchamp every day to work so I feel like the price of name brands is justified by how often I use them. I don't have any imitations, I'd rather just invest the money in one nice designer piece than have various knock-offs. I guess it's quality over quantity.
How important are clothes for you?
Fashion is probably more important to me than it should be. Even when I'm not in the mood to shop I love looking at clothes, jewelry and accessories.
How much does this hobby cost you a month?
I can't really tell but definetely way too much.
A piece of clothing you'd sell your soul for?
A Zac Posen shoulder dress.
God loves a cheerful giver.
Let's go, stalkers. Line up.
why, these are prostiboots
i'm on it.
hm. maybe she just started that job or something, but the Dreams For Kids bsite doesn't mention the name Alexis even once. furthermore, they have a Program Director (Andrew Horn) and a Projects Manager (Vince Calabrese) but no Program Manager.
what does it all mean? absolutely nothing as far as this particular post is concerned.
Sure it does, Chad. You're just not looking correctly.
