While I do actually know people who bought their New Year's dresses in June, our BYT NYE FASHION SPECIAL is targeted squarely at those of you who, like me, tend to put these things off until the eleventh hour. With 2008 rapidly approaching, we've pulled together a HOST of New Year's Eve-appropriate outfits with dresses from some of our favorite local boutiques (Alex, Redeem, the Remix, and Urban Chic) that will look just as great on the way TO the party as they will when the clock strikes midnight - and we've even included a little fashion inspiration for the gentlemen (courtesy of the District Line). Making our special ALL THE MORE SPECIAL, five of our favorite local bands and artists (Laura Burhenn, the Dance Party, Junior League, the Multi-V's, and Ra Ra Rasputin) graciously agreed to model the aforementioned New Year's finery while battling both inclement weather AND various methods of transportation - and don't think for a second that we'd deny you the party photos! Here's to YOUR New Year's going off as stylishly as ours did, and of course, we resolve ONLY to bring you many many more of these spreads in 2008. Enjoy!

Erin and Kelley of the Multi-V's are our new favorite teen keyboardists and the cutest things traversing the city on two wheels. Keep YOUR New Year's look young with experimental accessories, unexpectedly bold splashes of color, and total fearlessness when it comes to wearing EXACTLY what you feel like.
(L-R) On Erin: stylist's own thrifted sequin headpiece, vintage vest, Target top (worn as dress), and thrifted booties; her own tights. On Kelley: Vintage Cleopatra-Collar dress, $65 from The Remix (645 Pennsylvania Ave, SE); her own tights; stylist's own shoes.

Junior League: terribly good-looking; tremendously up for the challenge that is DC public transportation. Make like Lissy (front and center) and remember to stash an extra pair of shoes in your bag for a late night out - you'll be ever-so-grateful while running for your end-of-the-night cab.
(L-R) On Alex, Dale, Eli, and Martin: stylist's own hats and braces; all the rest belongs to the fellas. On Lissy: Religion Trapeze Dress in metallic black, $125 at Redeem (1734 14th St. NW); stylist's own boots; her own shoes in hand.

A bowler hat and heeled oxfords can lend a chic menswear twist to the most ladylike of dresses - and as an added bonus, you won't have to worry about your hair while attempting to get your bandmates to the party on time. Not that Ra Ra Rasputin needs wrangling...
(L-R, first picture) On Anna: Rebecca Taylor minidress in gunmetal, $343 at Urban Chic (1626 Wisconsin Ave, NW); stylist's own hat; her own tights. Patrick, Ken, and Brock in their own clothes.

Looking sharp should not be reserved for just DATE NIGHTS - sometimes you just want to look good WITH FRIENDS, and few people know this/live this/love this more than The Dance Party. Really. They JUST LOVE to LOOK GOOD.
(L-R, first picture) All the gentlemen are sporting their own trousers and shoes, all other pieces (except for Drew's own hat) are available at The District Line (1250 Wisconsin Ave, NW). On Kevin: District Line soccer scarf, $25; Ben Sherman "Knocking" l/s in "Jester," $79; Ben Sherman "Safari" overcoat, $179. On Mick: Boxfresh "Garten Stripe" zip-up in emerald, $99; Oliver Spencer Utility Jacket in green, $450. On Danny: Ted Baker dress shirt in Duck Egg, $198; Scabal tie, $120; Merc "Hemingway" jacket in Navy, $270. On Drew: Fred Perry s/s 3 Colour Check in "Truffle," $75; Scabal tie, $120; Fred Perry striped cardigan in brown, $135. On Jeff: Fred Perry argyle sweater in cream, $145; Scabal tie, $125; Ted Baker "Smooch" dress shirt, $115.

Laura Burhenn (of both Georgie James and her own making) proves that while balloons just may be the cutest party accessory of all, they are no help when trying to catch a cab.
On Laura: Kyumi tie-front tunic dress, $238 at Alex Boutique (Eye St, NW - between 19th and 20th); stylist's own thrifted wrap, shoes, and ring; Laura's own tights and gloves.
and now...the clothes in (party) action....

Well done!!! Great photos ( love the mattress one) and neat idea. Very very nice
Way to go, Junior League - looks like bus stops are in again!
2 weeks of planning
8 hours of shopping on Saturday
8 hours of shooting on Sunday
30+ people involved and not a single glitch.
how many bands AND balloons can you fit into one small living room?
everyone involved was a dream.come.true.
We (Ra Ra Rasputin) may look good, but The Dance Party have the best photos cuz they look like a badass gang.
now if any of these bands were any good we'd really have something here!
Hi, Urban Chic is offering 25% off dresses until the 31st! (Full disclosure I work there)!
The Pics Look Great!!!!
pat kigongo looking good as ever
They may not be twins, but they are my new favorite band. How wrong is that?
!!errbody so fly!!
Awesome shots. Especially from the party
lacking..
jesus christ. you didnt even leave adams morgan
anyone who says DC isn't a fashion mecca is obviously a retard. i mean, how did you guys pull off dressing up like an urban outfitters catalog? and with only 10 hours of prep time and 8 hours of shooting pics. and is somebody wearing pleated pants along with an argyle CREWNECK sweater with a tie under it? fashion plate.
it's big and it's bland, full of tension and fear. they do it over there, but we don't do it here.
Viper's happiness makes me (us) happy.
and everyone looks great.
what's with the hate, guys?
LOVE the balloons and red red gloves on the lovely Laura. As well as the miniature Jenny Lewis's also known as the Multi Vs. Morgan and Svet- you gals have a great eye!
boys could use some work. the whole nerdcore lumberjack look just doesn't do it for me.
multi-v's are double trouble. super cute redheads in tights will always be what's up.
Erin, you sure got my goat! You are riddunkulous.
