Brightest Young Things

Because, presumably, we have no more pressing topic this morning.
Open for discussion:

The Isabel Toledo (can I just say I was so proud of Michelle for going for someone as cool as Isabel, who's always been my "top ten fantasy lives i'd like to live" favorite.) green swearing in number:

and Jason Wu's white confection for the party hopping to end all party hoppings.

I have opinions and am not afraid to share them, but lets hear yours first:

God loves a cheerful giver.

so stunning and incredible and amazing. she already has done so much for fashion, and will continue to do so. the exposure for the designers is unprecedented...and for someone like jason, who is so wonderful but also so blissfully unknown amongst much of the country...it is just the best thing ever. i'm also super excited that she keeps wearing these young, small designers (and even the not-so-young, not-so-small ones) who have all come from PARSONS which means i totally have a shot in three years. i wish i could see her at fashion week...

ok, i ain't skerred.

the yellow getup for the inaugural parade was pretty classy looking and she totally rocked it.

the white dress? made by 10th grade home-ec students. the strap looks like it was stapled on at the last second because the strapless version was having a malfuntion or something.

i am not gay.

This stunning dress sent the right message to the masses, I suppose. No?

Whereas certain eddie sent the wrong one, as per usual.

i want that ball gown.

she looked pitch-perfect in her day outfit. loved the color (modern), the shape (classic first lady), and the cute accessories (gloves by j crew, shoes by jimmy choo).

the white gown didn't do much for me, but she looked beautiful nonetheless. i kind of wish she had worn a brighter color and a more body-conscious fit, but she played it safe, which is absolutely fine considering the circumstance. i agree with alyssa that she's done a lot for fashion and her support of young designers is commendable. she'll continue to do so throughout her time in the white house, and be a great example for women everywhere. she's not JUST a wife, not JUST a mother, not JUST a lawyer/corporate bigwig. she's all of this and more, and admirably not afraid to show us her personality, complexity, and all around coolness.

the ball gown? sorry, but it looks a little raggedy to me. from the waist up it could be part of wardrobe for a zombie flick.

not that the first lady didn't look good in it, cuz she did. i mean, she can make most outfits look good.

you guys like it just cuz she is wearing it. put it on an average runway model and tell me what you think.

loved them all. mayyyyybe i wasn't so crazy about the green jimmy choos with the inaugural outfit but literally EVERYTHING else was so spot on. aces.

both dresses were awful. yuck.

yeah i wasn't too impressed

the inauguration coat looks like something Queen Elizabeth or a couch would wear, sans the cushions
and the yellow could be more brilliant
hell try harvest moon, it's a timeless choice
instead of her shade, just a few shades off pea green like her gloves

and the gown wasn't stunning, it was average
and the feathers reminded me of Bjork's swan song
literally

should have got Christian Siriano to design it
just learned he's dating a friend of mine from college
bizarre

Christian Siriano?
seriously?
how many greats has he ripped off?

i mean, i'm sorry but...come on. you can't criticize someone's outfit and then suggest that CHRISTIAN SIRIANO would have done it better.

Look, I think it was less about fashion and more about setting an example of good dress sense for the masses. It should be.

my roommate, 10 seconds a go:
Her dress sucked. It made her look fat.

i really don't think that michelle obama has made any fashion mistakes so far. she keeps things classic, simple and beautiful all the time. i loved everything she wore.

Yes. And that reminds me.

The Boobs (A Cautionary Tale).

There once was a girl who liked to talk about her boobs, boobs, boobs all the time, time, time. If on occasion she would forget to bring the subject, that was a v. rare one. Her boobs were all she really cared for. “My boobs this and my boobs that…", she would say, ".. and all the boys are crazy about them…”, and all in that style. And there was no end in sight. On and on it went until the boobs had had enough and fled their hapless owner completely. So she became without boobs. And this is awkward. The end.

I loved the day look. The lemongrass color was perfect for her skin tone. I love that the accessories were not matchy matchy. I also love Sasha & Malia's look with the vibrant colors.
The ball gown was stunning. I think she looked like a dream dancing with Barack.
I am so glad she chose lesser known designers too. That is so inspiring!
