Getting a Jump on Jumpsuits

Getting a Jump on Jumpsuits

So it appears that the romper is making its way into fall.  Well, sort of…

Jumpsuits, they are everywhere! I don’t mean the one-piece that you zip up when you are getting ready to go skydiving.  I mean a unisuit. Like the kind you wore as a little kid that had the feet sewn on and were a pain because you had to unzip the whole thing when you woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom.

Except these aren’t pajamas, don’t have feet and you aren’t 8 years old anymore.
When done right, I really like the concept.  It’s easy, comfortable and doesn’t need a lot of accessorizing to complete the look.  In fact, in this case less is definitely more. Unfortunately, they tend to flatter only model-esque bodies. And since it is a one-piece, it has to fit your body perfectly, which can be tough to find. Otherwise it is just going to look like you are swimming in a burlap bag with legs.

While I haven’t spotted any in actual stores, or seen anyone on the street in one, I have noticed a handful of celebrities wearing the look.  Which means it’s only a matter of time until H&M comes out with its own version (word on the street is that Bebe already makes a jean jumpsuit).  Gossip Girl’s Blake Lively wore a green version to the Miss Sixty show during Fashion Week, which looked amazing on her.

And Keira Knightley recently wore one on Live with Regis and Kelly.  I have to be honest though, I thought she could have done much better.

Rihanna has also been snapped wearing them all over the place. (She’s is so stunning that anything would look amazing on her).

But can the average person pull one off?

I’m brave enough to try one, but I’m realistic enough to say that I don’t know how it will look.  I will let you know…

so, i thought the romper was impractical because of the bathroom issue, but this tops that times infinity. i’m down with fashion, but i like it to be practical, too.

I adore Keira, but it looks like she broke into my 85 year old Ukrainian grandmother’s house and stole her depression-era pajamas.
