In our sporadic weekly rundown of in-store (and more) events, lets all just first be excited for this:
in merely weeks H&M will unveil their Marimekko collection. As I told Morgan “I will just not buy a single item of clothing till mid-April so I can just roll in and buy them all the day they are out”. And while this is HIGHLY unlikely to happen, still extremely excited.

and around the same time, Gap will be releasing its second CFDA Emerging designer line featuring (wait for it!) Phillip Lim (3.1 Phillip Lim), Band of Outsiders’ Scott Sternberg, Michael Bastian, Philip Crangi and threeASFOUR’s Gabi Asfour, Adi Gil & Angela Donhauser.
No images out yet, but here are some samples of last year’s crop, which was, a delight.

cue the handclaps!!!
Now, focus on what’s in store:
Tuesday, March 18:
+Start the week (and Sex-and-The-City movie anticipation) with eye-and-foot candy from Manolo Blahnik’s Trunk Show at Neiman Marcus. The show goes through April 6.
Neiman Marcus

call 202-966-9700 for details
Wednesday, March 19:
+Not a store event per se (though the photos ARE for sale), but you know everyone will be here. To mentally prep yourself for things to come, check out our Saturday’s opening report and expect a (possibly amateur hour) jungle.
additionally, if you are in the mood for something a little less “sceney”:
+ Hillwood Museum assistant curator Howard Kurtz tells the story of the House of Callot Soeurs, a Paris fashion house founded in 1895 by four sisters. After the lecture, take a peek into Marjorie Merriweather Post’s closets for a closer look at some of Callot Soeurs’ truly exuisite handmade gowns. Plus, seriously, if you have not been to Hillwood yet…you don’t have a right to call yourself a …I don’t know.. Faberge fan?

I would imagine that they mean NEW deodorant and NEW men’s underwear.
March 18, 2008 at 11:37 amRight. you would imagine but the homeless apparently dont need NEW things, they just need to smell better and donations don’t have to be NEW. Miriam’s Kitchen accepts all kinds of toiletries, especially the free hotel size ones and samples. only toothbrushes have to be new
March 18, 2008 at 3:58 pmi might have a bunch of hotel size stuff for them
mom collects way too many that my guests never end up using
thanks for the tip
wish more homeless shelters and such would take used items, just prepare waivers people

March 20, 2008 at 1:39 pmThe event was a success, but we didn’t get enough deodorant! ha ha! (I work for Moojoo Ken, by the way.) I don’t see why they won’t take used stuff, either. Just cut the top off, you know? Miriam’s Kitchen is a GREAT organization.
