I’ve been working at Vena Cava in Brooklyn for the past three months. Last Saturday, Team VC presented our crown jewel: the Spring 2009 collection, at the Chelsea Art Museum. When I had a few seconds to breathe and wasn’t adhering studs or cutting emergency hems, I took these photos backstage and during the presentation. I must let the photos speak for themselves to the greatest extent; I have had such an overloaded, sentimental connection with this collection and all the work that went into it that it would take me days and days to talk about every piece. I was completely unable to photodocument everything I observed and wanted to shoot.
I will say this: Sophie and Lisa seem to get more adventurous and more conceptual with every new collection they create. Every piece in this collection is not only stunning, but both completely conceptual and totally wearable; I believe that Vena Cava has struck its prime in the last year, and will continue to sail smoothly through the industry. The girls are finalists for the CFDA award this year, for the second time in a row. So here’s hoping that they win. And here are my photos…

gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. and vena cava is totally in my TOP THREE fave presentations/shows for spring 09, so this is like doubly exciting. awesome job alyssa.
