After I bailed on you all last week (I love you too) this week we are back with a vengeance.
The weekend is here, you have worked for 3 1/2 days of the week already and goddammit you are ready to let your hair (and set yourself) loose. Or something. Coming up with intros for this week after week is hard.
So, lets get on point.
FIRST AND FOREMOST: Whartscape and Artscape are in Baltimore this week, so really, you should probably just take time off work and go but otherwise if you decide to stay in the district here are your options:
IT IS THURSDAY!!!!
So, you will be monstrously hungover tomorrow but you know what? Who cares. ANYONE CAN MAKE IT THROUGH 8 HOURS OF HEAD SPLITTING PAIN. ANYONE.
Are you a bright young thing or a mouse?
Thought so.
So to kick things off go to a work happy hour that is to end horrifically wrong or go to the probably coolest free outdoor thing this summer-Apes are playing Fort Reno. Apes are awesome. Apes are ALSO a little scary and a lot loud and there will be small children there. You should go and see it. To believe it.
Then, eat some food (if you have not already picnicked) and then head over to St.Ex for my favorite night of all month: Brazilian Rhythms at St. EX. I know, I know, I sound like a broken record with this every month but seriously people, it is just wonderful there. And by wonderful I mean crowded, and sweaty, and very drunken and insane. I hate myself for this every morning after, but I love every sordid second I am there.
DAMMIT, IT IS FRIDAY
Wake up.
Hate yourself.
Hate Brazilian Night.
Hate the fact that you are a fully employed grown-up and you have somewhere to be and conference calls to take at 9.
But you know, you’ve done this before and you will do it again.
I am probably going to pass out after watching Kathy Griffin on E!, as I do every Friday (the woman IS hiiiiiiiiiiilarious, just give her a chance)
but for those in spirit here are your options:
-Fever / True Womanhood / Pree (which is May Talbol’s of Le Loup wonderful solo project) are playing DAHLAK. Should be terrif.
-For the 90s nostalgists out there (you know who you are) NO SCRUBS is back at The Cat (this time on the Mainstage), with the NewGays well, gaying it up on the backstage. If you see Michael, walk right up to him and demand a “big girl drink”. If you are pretty or funny enough (and preferably both) you’ll get several.
and
-RNR hotel has an odd, but “something for everyone” combo of Junior League downstairs and DJ DOC ROK’s “EPIC DANCE NIGHT” upstairs.
Each to its own.
SLEEP-IN SATURDAY
The beauty of this Saturday is that there is nothing truly unmissable about it. Lots of good stuff, but nothing “OH-MY-GOD” about it. The dance nights happen every night, the bands that are playing will play again in a few weeks or a month and your bed can see you at 9pm or at 4 am. But you know what, this happens so rarely on a Saturday in DC, you should cherish your freedom to pick and choose:
+ The combo of Bellman Barker and Someoene Still Loves you Boris Yeltsin @ The Cat is pretty much a winner, with high quality indie pop for everyone.
Your call.
SUNDAY
Remember this?

Its detox time.
Last week, and I never sleep, I woke up at 1 on Sunday, ran some errands, got home a little before 4, was asleep by 4 (pm) and proceeded to take a nap that apparently lasted 8 hours. It was probably the best Sunday I’ve spent in months (the only thing that would have made it more perfect was if the nap was taking place in a shade somewhere by a pool, but then, nobody and no naps are perfect)
YOU and your tortured body should try it sometime.
NOW TELL ME WHAT I MISSED
that picture of the table…yikes…that’s SO many weekends
