The last (ninth?) edition of the party machine known as Shorts came and went last Thursday night. Whatever their reasons for calling it quits, it’s hard to believe that 80s (90s? -ed) monger Gavin Holland, DURKLier Will DURKL and bartender Ryan McCullough won’t re-partner in some future something-or-other. Whether they’ll ever pull off anything as insane this monthly millennial youth riot, though … I’ve gone to all but one and can’t think of a time when Asylum was less than wall-to-wall with sweat and flesh and Budweiser. Upstairs, downstairs, wherever. There was no escape from the noise and humanity. The bar, though, will no doubt miss the giant revenue spike. Pants wearers will never again know the terror of having to chose between scissors at the door and a night spent pretending to enjoy themselves elsewhere. It’s all just a memory now (with some sprinkles of black-out).
Anyway, it’s hard to write-up of a review of a night that, you know, I can’t even remember. So let this post be a shrine. Drop off wreathes, light candles and leave them unattended, and comment a little sump’m sump’m about the awesomest gay-frat-party you’ll ever ever know.

October 14, 2008 at 11:03 amhopefully with the closing of shorts some of these girls will spend less time on entry fees and sparks and more money on shirts. it’s sad 2 see when a shapely woman has to wear stickers as a t-shirt because she’s spent all of her weekly allowance on jager shots. having 2 wear a bikini in the fall is something that i never though happened in america :( :(

October 15, 2008 at 3:36 pmwhen the staff can’t take criticism of their obviously contrived tacky party and has to come out with the kittens claws then you know there’s a problem with the way you carry yourself and your overall professionalism. i suppose when hanging out with late teens/early 20’s and listening to electro bangers you lose sight of how to act like an adult and are stuck in some weird forever young phase like mel gibson.
brushing teeth is pointless because i’ve had mine surgically removed so i can down more sparks amongst coked out party promoters.
on a more positive note kudos to you for giving the kiddies something free to do and exciting to do.
maybe certain people should have stuck to attending frat parties instead of bringing that aesthetic into a scene that can completely do without that mentality.
uh - I agree with all of your points except that Shorts wasn’t a BYT party, therefore any “staff” who comment on it are doing so on their own, and not because of BYT. Yes Fitsum wrote up the party, and yes BYT promotes it, but they also promote a lot of other things.

your last comment (emphasis on ‘last’) gets an F minus for pointless hateration, that weak jab about Roy Ayers - I mean ‘age’ - and continued disregard for facts. oh. also for the pretentious use of “amongst” and your probable future use of “whilst”. Time would’ve been better spent watching the debate recap on Fox.
