Every once in a while a little photo angel descends upon BYT from heaven (in this case I guess you could say though that a little photo demon has arisen from hell?) and smiles (scowls?) upon us.
Erica Denny shot the SMB Masquerade Ball at "the warehouse" (no, not the one in Chinatown) and sent us these photos. We initially tried to get intrepid BYT photog Liz Shen in, but she apparently had some difficulties and so we assumed we would not see anything from this event last Saturday.
Denny goes by the moniker "artfisch" on flickr and her work builds upon many of the styles reflected already on BYT, however, Denny clearly has a style uniquely her own. She uses the opportunity during her very long exposures to not only drag light trails across her frames, she takes advantage and actually has her subjects draw messages and shapes with a little hand-held LED light. Ok, so it's been done before, I know, but something about the way she's doing it has caught my eye differently, as I am sure it will catch yours. Through some toning and the occasional use of multiple strobe bursts a complete effect is acheived. I encourage you all to check out more of Denny's work on her flickr photostream.

The last time I went to this was when it was at Bohemian Caverns - the whole f'ing place. That was, god, 2001? 2002? It was amazing. I mean imagine the election night party there, that many people, except all in fetish gear (or naked) and rockfucking out to Industrial.
there is a fetish club in richmond. i didn't realize it was a fetish club until i wasn't allowed in unless i (and my friends) were accompanied by a member. and no one we asked would "accompany" us. apparently we didn't look the part.
i wish there were more masks in these photos. it's a masquerade, where are the masks?
