Bamafolk are like the cucaracha: their population will ebb and flow, but never EVER zero out or diminish in any way that counts. Earlier tonight however, NoMa(ugh) bastion Ibiza would've been happy to have anything — cucas, bamas, pupusas, whatever.
Twas slö.
Tumbleweeds.
One or two mfs tentatively walking around looking at eachother thinking "Fuck, timed it wrong."
That's what it was at 11:30, as Will Eastman wrapped up and got ready to switch to the legendurry Stretch muh fuckin Armstrong, son. A quick briefing on Stretch if you're not knowing: together with Bobbito — whose last DC appearance I covered here here — he owned proto-indy hop label Fondle Em Records and introduced just about every east coast rapper of consequence during the 90s on their Columbia University radio show. Ima bet that the vast majority of the kids who were starting to fill the club's main room (phew) don't give a rat's poop about this fact. That Armstrong's set was techno-leaning for the mostly most part probably didn't help the issue either, that is, if it's an issue at all for anyone. And maybe it isn't. From the looks of the main room, his name still draws crowds. Crowds of very bincey bouncey friendly types. As does Jesse Tittsworth's; crowds and second looks.
By this time, the dj booth is starting to fill with fuzzy wobbly faces. Ibiza's music director Lai deals with the wobbly part by taking custody of the booth's liquor booty. Still, the faces. They keep coming and coming. So Lai takes action. And keeps doing so over and again all night because that's just how that surrday night dj tractor beam be: magnetic.

Great shots!
Small correction though: Stretch didn't co-won Fondle 'Em. Stretch's label was called DOLO (and later, Game). He was also A&R at LOUD Records (Mobb Deep, Wu, etc).
Err, co-OWN. Small correction to my small correction!
