Several hundred beautifully-dressed people crowded into a cavernous Logan Circle hair salon on Sunday evening for the opening of the fashion photography exhibit Immortal Style. Yet, while many showed up to view the FotoWeek DC exhibit, just as many turned out in order to check out the phenomenal space housing the collection of photographs.
The crowd was a testament to ‘Immortal Beloved’ salon owner Kelly Gorsuch, who opened the space on Church Street two months ago. Gorsuch not only brought together a team of phenomenal stylists to staff his salon, his own design talents helped transform a former back-alley auto repair garage into a temple of avant-garde design.
The salon staff enthusiastically used the party to highlight the photography collection curated by artists Adrian Loving and Jodi King. However, attendees largely doted over the wood furnishings hand-carved by Gorsuch (including massive wood-laid mirrors that hung from industrial chains from the salon’s nearly three-story ceiling) and his use of warm design features that glowed on top of a stark minimalist décor.
DC Magazine editor Karen Sommer Shallet and the Washington Post’s Lavanya Ramanathan hosted the evening. ‘Immortal Beloved’ stylist Tyler Larish created monstrously beautiful hairstyles on site while artist Adrian Loving dj’d the evening. And unlike many social events in Washington which tend to draw a static set, the party at "Immortal Beloved" attracted a cross-section of just about every community and social group in D.C.
The unexpected popularity of the party crowded the space and it soon became hot, noisy and frantic…yet, people were having too good of a time to care. Even when police showed up to patrol a neighborhood noise complaint, the officers themselves stuck around a bit longer than usual as one admitted "hey...this looks like a pretty good time!"

Beautiful!!
I love that fake mohawk on that girl. So awesome and so hot.
I'm really interested in seeing what this salon is like now. The write up makes it seem great, and I can kind of see from these pictures...very pretty all around.
Hey, I know that guy at the end - he's the blogger for CuratorOfDCStyle.com!! He's very handsome. Anyone got a number?! LOL.
