Brightest Young Things

all photos: Paul Goodman, Mark Silva and Chris Svetlik
all (brief) words: Svetlana

In the grand scheme of street festivals in DC: If Adams Morgan day is the rowdiest, H Street festival the coolest, Mt. Pleasant Day (or if we want to call it by its official name: FiestaDC) wins points for being the most authentic. Which, by default, I guess makes it the rowdiest and coolest too.
While Targets and Best Buys and the condos that come with those are sprouting freely just a couple of blocks away in Columbia Heights the streets anchored by Mt.Pleasant are still charmingly what they should be: a proper neighborhood, the businesses still Mom and Pop run, the apartment buildings still blissfully lacking giant shiny aquariums in the lobby and the food you buy on a street corner as delicious as you hope it would be.
So, when this Sunday, for the 38th time in a row, the Latin and Mt.Pleasant communities merged to celebrate the neighborhood and the culture within it, we sent the photographers to do what they do best: make you feel like you were there, or at least really wanted to be.

so, lets kick off with some awesome photos by Paul Goodman:
