This past Halloween Friday Coldplay (led by Chris Martin, husband of Gwyneth, father of Apple and Moses) played a massive show at Verizon center. Duffy (she of "Mercy" fame) opened. Dakota was there to take epic photos.
Enjoy. And if you went, tell us how it was.

*Tallulah is not that weird of a name. Neither is Suri.
I'm sorry but thsoe scarves on their arms look RIDICULOUS.
suri is a weird name for a child if the mother's name is katie holmes and she was raised in toledo and the father's name is thomas mapotter and was raised somewhere in illinois.
that would be like if my parents had named me jennifer.
okay, so Coldplay is everyone's favorite band to hate on, "vagina rock," etc, etc... buuuut, seriously, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say none of those people have been to a Coldplay show, they're sound is awesome, granted they have a hundred man army of roadies, producers, engineers and whatever else, but they put on a SHOW. (a show that i mostly couldn't photograph due to super strict rules on which songs I could and couldn't shoot, but that's just the way it goes.)
as for the annoying wardrobe and baby names, there is no excuse. not only is their wardrobe annoying, i think they must have multiple versions of those outfits... is it possible? they have to wear them every night! ugh, you know those things are gonna end up in some rock museum too, fart.
tell me that "little pixie" is not actually bob geldof's daughter's name. he must have been up all night.
photos are dope dakota.
and yes, it's totally true...coldplay live is a whole other epic experience. except i will never forget the time that i got stuck in six hour traffic to nissan pavillion to see coldplay and rilo kiley (and i live an hour away and left three hours before doors)...missed all but two songs of rilo kiley's, and then coldplay played for LESS THAN AN HOUR.
less than an hour.
and that was that huge concert with the huge uproar about how some people, who left with ample time to arrive to the venue, didn't even make it to the show because the traffic was so ridiculous.
and i pay $60 for LAWN seats. and you play for less than an hour.
...but then i saw them a few months later again, and they were amazing, and totally made up for it.
I can't believe how stupid Chris Martin's guitar is.
The other dude has an even lamer guitar:

The show was amazing, it really was
say it to my face
People can hate on Coldplay all they want... that just makes me like them that much more (and also means their tickets won't be damn-near impossible to get). The show Friday night was outrageous, and everyone I've talked to said the same thing.
I was also at that Nissan show, Alyssa. That place is just a clusterfuck, regardless of who's playing.
Sweet pics. Their light show, video boards, etc. definitely make for some great photo ops.
I would have gone if they had played Yellow 15 times in a row then left the stage, otherwise I don't like them.
i love coldplay. yellow is also my favorite coldplay song, though that +/- at the end of xy is a close second.
those scarf things are weird. do they stand for anything?
great pictures, dakota.
i'm okay with the weird names. i hate my name, everyone knows a thousand amanda's, and rachel/rachaels, jennifers, ashleys, those are all horrible names (not to mention boring). i wish more parents would get more creative, though i there are boundaries, i mean if you're just making up words because you think they sound cool, well that's silly. i prefer names to have meaning. that being said, i do like the meaning of my name, but not the name itself.
the strangest name i know of is a kid named tiger (first name) cotton (middle name).
Amazing show. My third time seeing the band, and they just keep getting better. The crowds always seem to be awesome, and Chris Martin has this amazing energy and connection with the audience. Their songs are catchy in all the right ways, their tech is spot-on, and they even threw in a few fun additions for Halloween. Without doubt the best concert I've ever been to.
my mom named me Dakota Fine.
yes, that's my given name. top three responses to introducing myself?
1) that's a stripper's name!
2) that's a pornstar name!
3) that name sounds pretty gay.
*distant* 4) that's a rockstar/famous actor name!
i wonder if Apple Martin-Paltrow hears from people a lot, "hey, that's a pornstar name!" probably not. but maybe she gets called fruity or something.
i think if a scarf is on a person's arm, that makes it an armf. just sayin.
they played yellow as their encore, predictably perhaps, but i really thought it would be clocks, which ended up going second surprisingly.
these pictures are so pretty! i for one like that one guys guitar.
dakota fine is a beautiful name!
and at least people can pronounce it...
Dakota, i'm sure you've also gotten something along the lines of "dakota? damn, he's fine!"
i on the other hand suffered as amanda hugnkiss, or the predictable, "A man, duh!" and because of my last name, manman.
but back to coldplay. i think it was on oprah when gwenyth paltrow talked about picking the name apple and how chris martin thought it was beautiful and organic (i'm pretty sure she used those words). it was really cute.
I remember ordering Parachutes from the UK before it was released here. By the time the 2nd album came out they were well on their way to super-stardom. I never got to see them live since I prefer smaller venues (i.e. 9:30) and wasn't about to fork out $100 for a decent seat.
cool pics...!
actually Amanda... in middle school, it was more like: "hey Dakotaaaa... is your middle name isnot?"
Kids can be cruel. So can Eddie.
I think Duffy is adorable and cute, no matter how many times that damn song is played, and I would totally do her and I'm a chick that only does dudes...just sayin.
Dang, mang. Great shots.
And I'm not afraid to say that Coldplay is actually a great band.
i actually hardly ever meet anyone named rachel.
