Somehow, sneakily, the Beaujolais night has become one of my favorite nights of the whole year. There is just something about the free cheap wine, which you drink directly out of a bottle while wearing your Wednesday best that makes me so very happy.
We teamed up, once again, with 1905 and while the going did get a little packed and rough for a minute-everyone seemed to not notice or not want to notice. DJ Jason Bond Pratt was down with the influenza so DJs William Alberque and Alexandra Verville stepped in and stepped up.
The music was a great mix of French songs you like to pretend to sing along to, songs in English that you like to pretend are still relevant to a French themed party (Paris is Burning by Ladyhawke etc) and then straight up dance mania after midnight which definitely turned both not age appropriate and not outfit appropriate at the times.
Plus, the wine was decidedly less vinegary than last year, so, in a way, we were all winners.
Thank you all for coming.
We cannot wait for both the hangover to subside and to do it all over again.
Enjoy the photos:

God loves a cheerful giver.

I love this night, truly, but seriously bring back the RSVP or put a limit on the door or something. Way too crowded. Also: faster bartenders. Or add a third. Something.
I mean you know I love it, right? Anything that gets me to stand around with that many pose-people has to have something going for it.
that last picture makes me cringe.
Re: Instrument
I assume you're making some ridiculous DJ snob remark.
Response #1:
William: Jason just called and said he's sick and I need to DJ, what's going on?
Cale: Oh, it's just background music for this party and then maybe some people will dance once they get drunk, but like, no pressure at all.
William: Ok, cool, I thought Jason wanted us to have scratch contests and stuff.
Cale: Ha, no, don't even bring turntables, just a mixer and your iPod, I'll make a playlist on mine of French music and Alexandra can make a playlist on hers and just crossfade them all.
William: Sounds fun.
Response #2:
People enjoyed the music and danced around and had fun and that means William was a great DJ. Because that's ALL THAT MATTERS.
Great night. I was beaujolate to work the next day.
No, I think he's referring to the fact that I look as attractive as a bulldog's ass.
I could see Dakota thoughout the night trying to take photos with me in them and deleting them in frustration - as I tried, panicked, to manipulate four separate, dying iPods.*
*DJing off iPods is hell.
something got in the way of me and erik trying to hug each other.
Who is that cute Blondie Dj?
that's a question for Missed Connections, playbwah
(or you could just use some context clues from reading the write-up)
Nevermind that blonde dj, but who is that blonde Asian?
Sorry, the blonde ching chong is mine!
*sips lemon-lime haterade*
yes, total DJ snob remark.
I know that every girl has a gay bf, but really. this "ching chong" is straight out of a page from a comic book and definitely not from this universe, in a great way of course.
jesus christ I am so sad that I had to miss this.
le sigh. a byt beaujolais event is never to missed.
oh please William... i beeeeg to differ... you're such a cutie-pie:
"DJ Jason Bond Pratt" just rolls off the tongue
BEST PARTY EVER...AND BY "EVER" I MEAN SINCE MY 3RD WIFE LEFT ME.
