This just in: DJ Gavin & Co. seem to have found a new home for their infectious Nouveau Riche dance party, located in Silver Spring at Gallery this past Saturday night. I have been to a lot of Nouveau Riche dance parties in the past eight months, most of them probably, maybe 6 out of 8? The last one they had at DC9 was out of control packed, ridiculous, insane. So packed I had to check out pretty much as soon as I arrived, so despite the fact that I will always hold a special place in my heart for Nouveau Riche at DC9, I must say it's probably healthy for all of us that the party has moved on.
I spoke with Durklroy via telephone prior to the party (around 9pm) and he told me that the boys from London, Sinden et al, had been delayed in their arrival. Gavin later confirmed their luggage had in fact, been lost by United on the trip over the pond, and that they were at the hotel chowing down on some pizza.
As Richers streamed uptown to Silver Spring, King Tutt warmed up the wheels. Senari, Steeve-o, Nacey, if I'm forgetting I apologize, all the regulars were in town. I was there til they turned the lights up, and genuinely enjoyed myself. Kids were getting down for sure, and the venue is good, just a short cabride up 16th street for me. Thanks to the Nouveau Riche crew for taking care of me.

Gallery is vastly superior to DC9 and RnR in every way except the $20 cab ride back to the city. And the 2AM last call.

thanks Lex... honestly, those shots are right up your alley. i consciously made a point saturday night to take some pictures without the flash... because of you, i think i will totally reevaluated the way i shoot nightlife photography, the more styles i can incorporate the better
Clown Prince, Sinden is playing at Sonar tomorrow night for Free so don't sleep. I am expecting to see Puja and Gavin there too.
this party pretty much ruled until i had to cash out at the bar - this took about 45 minutes because of the jack off bartenders. hey gallery, how about you hire 4 more downstairs bartenders and fire the ones you already have. thanks.
Dakota, I'm so sorry for dissapearing! I followed you out of the club to take you back home... and then a series of events occurred... which somehow lead me to a place involving ecstasy and prince for 4 hours straight and... I'm really just so sorry. but glad to hear you were taken care of.

Ditto to Senari on that, we had a blast at Gallery. And Simon is right, I just can't get enough Sinden (and his MC posse), nor can I get enough Taxlo, hence I will see you in Baltimore this Wednesday.
Now you know I can't post on BYT without hyping up the next Nouveau Riche. We'll be back at DC9 on the last Saturday, November 29th. I want to wait, but I cannot wait.

I've been waiting for these photos so I could comment on being tackled by one of the bouncers and thrown between two cars. Sure, I was drunk and yelling things to people about how much it sucked that they wouldn't let me back in cause the top floor was closed, but I wasn't on the property, wasn't talking to them, and, most importantly, no matter what I did that's assault. And it's fucked up. Love Nouveau Riche, and appreciate the parties at gallery, but I've never had my tailbone fractured at DC9.
Also, I hear NAE has gams from here to the moon.
no way, gallery sux, the place was filled but certainly wasn't packed... and still... they closed the outside to smoking way early, ran out of overpriced beers way early, took forever to get you a beer in the first place, played horrible music upstairs, don't have a real stage, and have shitty outdated interior design... on the plus side Gavin spun an awesome set. Sinden was alright except you couldn't really here his hype man half the time... Give me a Black Hole with a Red Wall A sound guy and beers under four dollars for life.

Sinden party wasn't responsible for the music upstairs - that was the Gallery's regular DJ. It's also hilarious that you're commenting on the interior design of the bar, lol.
