My kind of dj night.
And I’m not just saying that because I’m banned from those other kinds of dj nights. Alleged host Ashley May got things started with a make-up BBQ for what should’ve gone down at her place last sunday, in Velvet Lounge’s back yard-lot-thing. There were Burgers, there were bratses, veggie kabobs, Ashley’s stunningly tasty corn-on-the-cob jonks, and this bit of condiment heaven. The crowd initially thinned some as the food ran out, which is always nice to see. But as the night crawled on and djs Chad America, Vinnie Von Blotto, Ashely’s Andy O, and Pow Wow DJs Kim and Sara plowed through they stacks of garage rock, psych rock, classic rock, and classic R&B blessings, the peoples returned and the set turnt into the full-fledged screaming blur of a hootnanny it was sposed to be. And then some: what with the sheer force of Chad’s heroic beard, the impeccable Mach-speed bartendering sustained throughout the night, the presence of reeeeaaally happy gentlemen, and a pseudonymsterish BYT contributor whom Libby only knows through email and her not-so-subtle unfriendly Michelle N’degeochello shaped cock-blocker (while some might describe her as your average woman from West African Benettonesia, I’ll stick to what I said).
