I am considering sending my intern out to the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden at 4 p.m. next Friday with two blankets, some party cups and reading materials — either that or I’ll have to find a new workweek after-party. I would swear patches of grass at Jazz in the Garden were plots of land in Gaza the way folks last Friday were fighting over a few square feet.
Still, the ideal weather, plentiful sangria and cherubic music, supplied by Daysahead, an Atlanta-based jazz and R&B group, overshadowed any agoraphobic concerns. And when feet weren’t weaving through throngs of picnic spreads, they danced and dipped in the fountain. So let the wink corks pop, the generations hobnob and the interns save me some goddamn space.
