American Psycho Party @ Café Saint-Ex

American Psycho Party @ Café Saint-Ex

The primary reason why American Psycho is so close to my sternum is this:
While schooling in Toronto in the early-mid 90s, I found my ass in the thick of an intensely militant political correctness movement; not just at school, but city-wide. Political Correctness. All caps. My FEMA reponse consisted of small hills of weed, hiphop — which, at the time, was coming into it’s second golden age — Michael Musto’s outrageous shit in The Voice, and that book. As Ghost Dog would tell you, “It’s a guh book”. While Palahniuk’s stiffs flip birdies skyward from the mailroom, Brit Easton Ellis’ brats LAWL themselves pissy, tossing pennies from the penthouse 30 floors up onto the nogs of the innocent. I’ve followed these motherless pricks since Less Than Zero (high school) and Rules of Attraction (college), and they’ve become near and dear. So I got my grin and buzz-of-nostalgia on when Bliss Dance (Mega) Party’s DJ Will Eastman, texted me last week about an American Psycho-themed one-off he was doing with Brian Billion (Swedish auto-translation of his real name, Brian Miller. Ask him about it) at Saint-Ex. Trust me: last night, people followed the dresscode to this. Those who didn’t got real committed to dancing to a gang upon gang of 80s radio hits I spent a teenage-lifetime fighting against, and lost to.

Second the jealousy. If you had taken pics of him holding the nail gun away from Chloe’s head and running in brilliant white high tops with the chainsaw you would have covered all my favorites!
