Circa 2005 there was not a party in the world that would not drop “Chewing Gum” or “Heartbeat” at one point or another to the collective ooooohs-and-aaaaahs of the female population.
Will Eastman even brought Annie over to guest at Bliss one night, when I (to some) memorably made everyone wear bubblegum pink to (even in my earlier youth I exhibited a tendency for social dictatorship).
Anyway, three odd years later, Annie is back.
I sampled this MP3 a few weeks back but now the obligatory video is here which is basically the closest we’re gonna get to “Vogue” this year and makes me REALLY want a bubble bottom mini dress.
Don’t stop us, the album is out in July, produced by her longtime svengali Richard X and is going to feature collaborations with DataRock, Franz Ferdinand (they are apparently alive) and a cover of “Two of Hearts”.
Which, if you think about it is as perfect as it gets.
I am so ready for new Annie. That BlissThat she played at was amazing.
