*An appearance on American Idol which could substantially increase her profile in the States and lead to more downloads/album sales and eventually more sold out shows in future. (Plus, she was probably paid a fee to appear on the show).
Same thing happened w/Spoon when they canceled some shows to fly to NYC last minute and play Saturday Night Live.
Sucks for the fans, though….
