Call it what you will: Electronica, Dance Punk, Electro Rock, Nouveau Disco... it doesn't quite have a name yet, but James Murphy and the cats over at DFA Records in Brooklyn are the at the center of the movement. DJs know them for their remixes and their world renowned dance parties. Their signed artists include, among others, LCD Soundsystem, The Rapture, and Hot Chip. Saturday night, however, is your chance to experience the resurgence of The Juan MacLean.

The Future Will Come, is a slight shift from their previously established sound, due in large part to the vocals of Nancy Whang, also the keyboardist for LCD. Nicholas Millhiser rocks a theremin and several other beat generating instruments. Jerry Fuchs is an analog/digital alien drum machine sent to exterminate the human race with lightning limbs. And Mr. MacLean performs, well... all sorts of tricks.
Some of their recordings may seem ambient or trance, but I can assure you that their live performance is nothing short of a thriving non-stop adrenal soul-shaker. The Field will be warming it up with some Swedish-made penis-enlarging house thumps. Here's how to prepare for the gyrating hypnosis that awaits you:
1. Go to their myspace page. Listen to "No Time" and "Accusations".
2. Watch alien muppet-seduction in their classic video for Give Me Every Little Thing:
3. Watch the video that I, your humble orator, directed for their latest single:
4. Call all your friends and order them to join you at the Black Cat on Saturday.
5. Wait for the future to come.

Then read my interview with an obscure German music blog about the video.

God loves a cheerful giver.
Looking forward to this, and BLISS downstairs at Black Cat after. Juan's new record is fantastic. Been giving it mad spins.
