Wednesday Aug 20th
Don Caballero, Ponytail @ Sonar
Sure this show is coming through DC. But a true hometown show from Ponytail shouldn’t be missed.
Billy Bob Thornton @ Ottobar
Wow, there are no words for this. His country-fried rock really rings to me as unconvincing, but it should still be an interesting show.
Thursday Aug 21st
Thee Lexington Arrows @ Talking Head
Local blast of charming, catchy and riot-inducing mix fusing garage, surf and rockabilly.
Friday Aug 22nd
Love as Laughter, Oxford Collapse @ Talking Head
Oxford Collapse are spectacular. Insistent, rollicking and endearing indie-racket with some great bass riffs.
Billy Idol @ Pier Six
Had the joy of seeing Billy Idol perform a few years ago at HFStival. Truly spectacular, dynamic set from a born showman with a solid stable of great songs. And unlike many older artists, he actually seems to enjoy delivering the hits as much as the newfor fans.
Red Vines @ the Wind-Up Space
Great space, one of the best shows I’ve seen lined up here. Red Vines’ pop-and-psych rock are always a treat.
Saturday Aug 23rd
Good Charlotte @ Sonar
OK, I just had to comment on this. Growing up in Waldorf, I was traveling in similar, Venn-diagrammatic circles to these kids. Does anyone else harbor as much contempt and hatred for them as me?
Red Emma’s Benefit feat. Rude Mechanical Orchestra (NYC) @ 2640
Support Baltimore’s best independent, commune-run coffee shop and radical bookstore. And while you’re at it, bear witness to the insanity of these haphazard marching band distillations.
Teeth Mountain @ Golden West
Baltimore’s own esoteric noise-makers Teeth Mountain perform in the ever-intimate setting of the Golden West.
Crash Boom Bang, The Dance Party @ Fletchers
DC party-boys the Dance Party bring it up north. Quite possibly a guaranteed good time for many.
Sunday Aug 24th
Rasputina @ Ottobar
Rasputina are probably one of the most engaging and worthwhile live shows touring today. Anytime they are in a space as intimate as the Ottobar is quite special.
Monday Aug 25th
Xiu Xiu @ Sonar
Some of the most earnest and affective music you are likely to hear in a long time.
Friday’s Taxlo @ Sonar will be some impressive booty shaking dance floor type shit!
