You know, you can wrap 2007 up in so many ways that we're just gonna keep posting them. Until there is no posting left in us.

10. Piano Magic "England's Always Better (As You're Pulling Away)"
Fans have cried foul at the new version of Piano Magic and their pesky "song structures" but here Glen Johnson and crew give us something we can all relate to - longing for an idealized home.

9. Ezra Furman and the Harpoons "I Wanna Be Ignored"
This Chi-town strummer is getting noticed for his Dylanesque yelps but I find myself drawn in by his sly placement of his persona as a man-child filled with confidence, yet still having his heart broken and dreams dashed at every turn.

8. Mark Ronson "Stop" and The Klaxons "Golden Skans" and Justice "D.A.N.C.E."
These all make me shake my ass and sing along. EVERY time.
7. brakesbrakesbrakes "Mobile Communication"
Country music for the indie generation via a thick british/canadian accent. "Mobile communication let me down... again." Indeed.

6. British Sea Power "Straight Down the Line"
From the "Krakenhaus" e.p. floating around as a stop gap between albums, this song, built upon an oddly simplistic keyboard riff and whispered vocals is full of the drama typical of the group yet a personal connection not reached since they sang "I'll drink all day and play by night, Upon my casio electric piano."

5. Flight of the Conchords "Business Time"
That's why they call them business socks - nuff said.
4. Jens Lekman "A Postcard to Nina"
Lekman makes the most of his awkward charms in this tale of standing in as a boyfriend for his german pal so her father doesn't know she is a lesbian. He also refers to himself in the third person yet astonishingly, its endearing.
3. The Caribbean "The Go From Tactical"
I have been waiting over a decade for this song. Since his days in Townies, Michael Kentoff has buried so many glorious pop hooks in his songs that an expedition should be sent out. On this one, he finally gives in and lets it all out on a sweet, magnificent chorus.

2. LCD Soundsystem "All My Friends"
James Murphy taps into the sadness that seeps into those of us who cast aside relationships big and small in pursuit of what we thought we wanted - only to find that we what we REALLY wanted was our relationships back. Only now it's too late. A poignant ode to the late twenties/early thirties generation of reformed club kids and their law degrees.
1. Unrest "Isabel"
This is cheating as it is only a 07 release via the deluxe re-issue of "Imperial f.f.r.r." but boo hoo I don't care. Just Mark Robinson and his guitar on his ode to artist Isabel Bishop. Perfect.

God loves a cheerful giver.
dear john foster,
you are my hero.
love,
carri
And just like that Carri makes my entire week - thanks!
(I will assume you mean the hearty italian sammich as opposed to the spandex clad variety...)
in the spirit of xmas im going to say all these are great!
the real mark ronson video for stop me (or at least the better one)
Yeah, all those have "denied embedding" so I couldn't bring them in. Sadly.
I hear Ezra Furman is something of a savant...of some sort or another. Can anyone verify that?
For those curious - you can ask Ezra yourself when they play the Red and Black Jan. 7th (Sad Crocodile opens.)
excellent list. it says something about lcd soundsystem that he's managed to grow in emotion and scope. when i figured out what "someone great" was about and listened to it more carefully, i found what for me is the best song of the year.
also, the franz ferdinand cover of "all my friends" is surprisingly ace (as is their gainsbourg cover with jane birkin) considering how lame they've been since their debut.
