Brightest Young Things

Dude, so Johnathan Rice is playing 9:30 Club tonight. You know, the dude who is questionably semi-famous for banging Jenny Lewis on the regular?

Yeah, well, what you don't know is that back in high school right here in DC he was in my brother Preston's favorite Gonzaga jam band. They were called "Suburban Groove" (a band name that makes Limp Bizkit look like a wise decision) and they sounded like kids that weren't good enough to cover phish playing Jack Johnson b sides. But I guess it sounded better than OAR.

sample tuneage:

God, how does OAR even exist? I stay up late at night pondering such things - real existential shit – like how I read on the internet that Moses was on drugs when he talked to the burning bush, how awesome it is Pete Wentz is banging Ashlee Simpson, whether or not those naughty Milo Cyrus pictures my buddy Kyle emailed me are real, and why the fuck kids still insist on listening to OAR.

Preston doesn't admit that his favorite album back in high school was "Under the Table and Dreaming." I'm pretty sure he tells everyone at The Raven that it's a tie between some avant-garde jazz record he's probably never actually listened to and 13 Songs, but, you know before Fugazi totally sold out on Red Medicine (and he totally can't even listen to Waiting Room anymore, cause that'd be wayyy too predictable and mainstream). This was back when he use to drink Schlitz cause it was cheap and he and his buddy Tuck could convince our Hispanic landscapers to buy it for them on their lunch breaks, but now he just drinks it because it's "ironic."

Anyways, if you are into watching a kid who grew up in Burke, Virginia sing americana folk songs with a Scottish accent, Johnathan will be at the 9:30 Club. If you're lucky maybe Jenny Lewis will be there. As far as 30 year old post-hipster indie chicks go, she's totally bangable.

I'll be at home watching All Time Low (http://www.myspace.com/alltimelow) videos on youtube.

Fuck if I know. One time I met the ex-drummer from Good Charlotte at a 7 eleven in severna park after a Christian youth group skate jam at The Woods.
