Brightest Young Things

We love Passion Pit.
They are playing (now Mainstage) of the Cat today and while we're awaiting for them to turn in their listening party/interview which we will then put in here, lets look at some of the moments of our love for them from the past few months:

  • 1. “I’ve Got Your Number” makes it to #4 of songs that made Svetlana (very) happy in 08

“Chunk of Change”, Passion Pit’s super sassy EP is full of glitchy fun but the opener is a killer, with the whatever machine they have making clapping and snapping sounds just driving it out of the park. The song is over 6 minutes long the first 2:09 of those would make a perfect song in itself. I particularly like when they go all “As far as I can tell, things will be just swell” and then go all “Whoooooooooooooooooooooooo”

God loves a cheerful giver.

“Have you seen me craaaaaaaaaaai.. Tears like diaaaaaamonds.. Can you tell them flaaaaaai…….. Faaaaaaaster and faaaaster… Like the speed of laaaaaaight…… La la la la.. Ahh laaaaaaaaaaav… Woaaah!!!!!...”

The way she sings is killing me. Phenomenal song, altogether. My roomates, it's killing them as well.

am i the only one who thinks a dude sings that?

No, I won't allow that. The song has precisely the length it should have. Reduced to 2:09 it doesn'r affect the listener as mush as it does when prolonged to over 6.

svet- this is an inside joke right? yup, its a guy singing falsetto

he wrote the songs on the chunk of change ep as a vday present for his girliefriend

i don't know if its an inside joke. i mean, i know its a dude but more than one person has used the word "she" describing the vocals. so, while I know, I don't know if everyone knows.

Oh what difference does it make? We live in XXI century, for crying out loud.

An acquaintance of mine in Moscow, Russia had that mistress named Svetlana as well. And he also had that nickname for her, I transliterate: ‘Svetlashentsia-Umalishentsia’. Pronounced as to rhyme with ‘intelligentsia‘. Unsure what it meant but he thought it rather affectionate. Besides, according to him, it had a comical twist to boot. I frankly thought it too long for a nickname but he would apply it to her all the same.

Ah, the foreign eccentricities we, Americans, are so often at a loss to comprehend.

so i got all excited when they moved it to mainstage, but then i had a chat with my debit card and she didn't think that i should make this trip after spending this past weekend, and going up this upcoming weekend in dc. i'm upset.

but moving on, i think that passion pit does cut copy better than cut copy, but then i hate cut copy. passion pit is going to blow up this year and cut copy will go poof!

now, i haven't seen passion pit live, so that's still a comparison i have yet to make, but just listening to them - passion pit makes me want to dance and cut copy makes me feel like imploding.

cale, i am sorry.

The keyboards were sloppy as all heck, but they were so freakin' charming. Also thought it was cute that everyone in the band NOT singing was silently mouthing the words anyway.

I kind of loved every moment.

did anyone think that set was pretty short? i know they only have the EP, but I barely finished one beer when he said they were on their last song.

I thought for the headlining band the set was pathetically short. fun but short. I'm pretty sure it was like 35 minutes long if even.
