No Round Robin for You

No Round Robin for You

Ok, so this looks really cool.
I admit to it.
I got the press release and I got excited (others did too), for all the awesome shows, for all the awesome bands in Baltimore, for the sense of unity and togetherness, with 60+ people driving around by only veggie powered vehicles in a community on wheels. Curated by Dan Deacon, the tour includes bands from Floristree, Wham City, Tarantula Hill, The Bank, Comfort Dome and other Baltimore music homes.

AND THEN I REALIZED that for some reason while NY, and Philadelphia and Detroit and Montreal all get to see it: BALTIMORE AND DC ARE NOT ON THE TOUR LIST.

WHY?

not cool enough or something?

“Baltimore Round Robin tour dates announced, featuring 29 bands! including Dan Deacon, Beach House, The Deathset, Jana Hunter, Adventure, Lesser Gonzalez Alvarez, WZT Hearts, Nautical Almanac, Video Hippos, and more!”

Dates and details of what you don’t get to see below:

WHAT IS A ROUND ROBIN SHOW LIKE?
The format of the show is as follows:
-All the bands set up at the same time along the perimeter of the room with the audience in the center
-Each band does one song per round, no breaks, back to back to back etc., until the show is completed
-There is no headliner or opener, no front row or back of the room

WHAT IS EYES NIGHT? FEET NIGHT?

The tour is divided into two nights. The first night (Eyes Night) is a mixture of folk, noise, theatrics, improvisation, music that is spiritual, dreamy etc. The second night (Feet Night) is devoted to music that you dance, thrash or otherwise move around to and is a mixture of electronic, punk, hardcore, dance, and rock and roll musics

so, yes, why?
if someone knows the answer, let me know. thanks

Well, DC isn’t cool enough. And this month’s line-up of bands is pathetic relative to other major cities.

They’re doing practice nights in Baltimore.

Sept 31st for the Eyes portion, Oct 1st for the Feet portion.

Dunno how “open” these events are. They may not be “shows” per se.
