After all the funny times of late, I felt the need to reconnect with my music blogs and cherry pick some songs for you and me and everyone you're making a mixed tape for this week. Follow the links for downloads etc.

• First and foremost, in case you're living under a rock and have zero male friends on facebooks (since they ALL posted this), Them Crooked Vultures has a single out. Its called "New Fang", and you can listen to it here.

• Carlie Simon stops by Daytrotter!. And yes, the set includes "You're so vain" and "Let the river run" (from "Working Girl"!)
• Gorilla vs. Bear puts out their "not exactly a party jam" Halloween mixtape
• Dominant Legs has a new track out "Clawing out at the walls" that should appeal to fans of Belle and Sebastian and Arthur Russell alike.

• Annie is back and all leotardy. "Songs remind me of you" is still no "Heartbeat" but its STILL pretty great. Welcome back.

• For those wishing for more "Pains of Being Pure at Heart" songs in their lives, just go an get the new Little Girls track "Growing"
• Shoegazey Bonus: for Swervedriver fans Beloved Rogue, “Daysleeping” is a must

And finally:

• Miami Horror has a great new track and a weird new video to go with it. Chances of Gavin playing this this Saturday at Nouveau Riche: 110%
