Lost Records: Chapter Nine (and a half)

Lost Records: Chapter Nine (and a half)

October 7, 2008 by John Foster Send to a Friend Send to a Friend

I am sick. (Coughing, sneezing and generally being a crank.) Lost Records will be back next week, but in the meantime I wanted to leave you with the set lists from my first DJ stint in 15 years on Friday - courtesy of the kind folks with We Fought The Big One (BYT’s Rick Taylor should be blamed in particular, for inviting me along for the ride.) It reads in a lot of ways like a “Lost Records” compilation from the 70s to today. All of these bands are worth investigating. You know what to do next…

Set #1

Moonshake – Exotic Siren Song

Foals – Red Socks Pugie

The Caribbean – Bulbs & Switches

Sloan – I Can Feel It (live at a house party)

The Hollow Men – Pantera Rosa

The Lucy Show – Part Of Me Now

His Name Is Alive – Bad Luck Girl

Delicatessen – Zebra/Monkey/Liar

The Royal Family And The Poor – I Love You (Restrained In A Moment)

The Groove Farm – The Best Part of Being With You

A group of folks made their way to the back following the Glasvegasfest at R+R, just in time to catch the second set. Two funny things: I played Talking Heads specifically for Cale. He pulled me aside and said he would have played the live version (all 8 minutes) – he is like that.  When The Royal Family And The Poor came on, I could see William nodding his head along until he quickly confirmed what I was playing. Neither of us was quite sure which was geekier - that I was playing it, or that he recognized it. Thanks to the Marx Café gang and We Fought The Big One for letting me barrage the place with obscure indie pop from four decades. xoxo
