Brightest Young Things

Following their 2007 debut "Say Something", Via Audio releases their "Animalore" album on March 9th and are already up in arms and touring in support of it. The Berklee School of Music educated foursome still does their folk-pop thing but gets a little bit of their freak on too: venturing bravely into tropicalia ("The Lizard Song), jazz and even dub on their new record, with castanets and childlike rhymes sprinkled throughout.
They'll be at DC9 tonight and were kind enough to offer us a sampling of what to expect:

1. Babies
I woke up one morning and I realized some strange words popped into my head in that magical half awake state. "Put your hands up, I got the place surrounded, I know the world is overcrowded but I wanna make babies with you" My friends told me I had to finish the song. So I did with the help of the rest of Via Audio. I think I had been listening to almost too much Justin Timberlake at the time.

2. Tigers

This song is almost something you can feel with your fingers. It feels pleasant, smooth and furry. But it also can be deadly. Our producer, Jim Eno did a great job finding just the right sounds so we were able to convey all those sensations with just a few instruments.

3. Lizard Song

This is a song inspired by the cause and effect of humans and the world. I was thinking about how humans mess with the earth a lot, and how we may be asking for a mutant lizard to rise from the ocean and smash us good.

4. Happening
This song has only 2 chords. Danny wrote the lyrics, and he says it's about Global warming, but if you ask me, it's about a lot of things in life. Aren't there times in your life that you want to ask yourself, is this really happening?
