Brightest Young Things

Nashville's Jeff the brotherhood, walk the fine line between Queens of Stone Age rawk and pure power pop zest for life. I don't recall another recent example where murky music has sounded this energetic.
They are opening for Screaming females at the best-show-you-can-go to on Sunday night, so here are some jams from their "Heavy Days" debut to get you all amped up for it.
Please note how much they love the word "heavy":

HEAVY KRISHNA

The "motorik" beat is meant to propel you forward, and the guitar is like a pyramid, first 1 string, then 2 strings, then 3 strings, then 2 strings, then 1 string, and the piano makes it so you don't lose all your energy climbing to the top and you can still come down. When you reach the bottom of the pyramid we introduce the "heavy riffage" which is the most important part, other than the guitar solo at the end.

BONE JAM

Last summer JTB and MEEMAW bought a school bus and used magic to make it run on used fryer oil from restaurants, then we toured for 2 months all over the U.S.A. in it. We spent a lot of money and all got irritated with each other and then became better friends. That could be one interpretation of this song. There's a ghost laughing in the left channel right before the first verse.

THE TROPICS

This was originally a LETHO song, it was written for organ and was released on a split tape with PAPER HATS which is William from SILVER JEWS' solo project. When we went in the studio to cut the album we decided to re-write it for guitar and record it for HEAVY DAYS. CY played the guitar solo when we played it live at our record release party at his house.

HEAVY DAYS

Partying, fireworks, endless downhill jams, bonfires, grilling out, cabrewing, stick-getting, popping, backflips, car trouble, being broke, going to the beach, girl trouble, stuff breaking, getting fired, bloody mary's, dog bite's, alienation, international market, nashville sounds, glenn danzig's house, booby, hummus, dave cloud, heavy days. IT'S THAT SIMPLE!
