File this under "hate to say we told you so": almost 2 years a go, on a balmy day in 2007, we told you about this little band called The Pains of Being Pure at Heart.

Among the things we said was:
Clever, clever, clever melodic pop from a Brooklyn trio that really seems to know what they’re doing with their tongue-in cheek (and sometimes between teeth) lyrics ((”This love is Fucking Right” anyone? Everyone!)), pitch perfect harmonies all wrapped up together in a perfect little package with a pair of boy/girl vocals like a bow on top.
and some other stuff.
Fast forward some time forward and they're a little bigger now and signed to (initially DC based) Slumberland records (who wit Lodger and Crystal stilts on the roster too is having a grand ole time now as a label), have everyone from stereogum to pitchfork fawning all over their reverbed gems, they're being compared to every band that you loved and loved to love (My Bloody Valentine, Teenage Fanclub, Pastels), have toured every country you've always wanted to visit and the video from "Everything for you" wins for one of the more adorable things you will lay on eyes on this suddenly warm winter:

Oh, yeah, and as if they knew all about love week on BYT
they're playing the Black cat tonight.
Be there. With someone to hold hands with preferably.
God loves a cheerful giver.
I'm definitely going to this, so stoked, they are really good. I hear they are sick though, they were supposed to play at WMUC today and had to cancel, hopefully that doesn't diminish the performance.
P.S. Anybody want to play guitar in a band that shares a lot of these influences? Email me, arjunamusic [at] gmailzzzzz [dot] com.
i spoke to them over the weekend, they're excited, seemed healthy and everyone should seriously come out to this if they physically can
