Hot on the heels of all sorts of successes and indie band milestones that last year brought them (signing to Saddle Creek-check, music video on MTV2-check, Emmy nomination-check, appearance on Conan-check, European and US tours-check) the word on the street is that Georgie James broke up.

eddie - I completely agree. I like Laura's solo stuff but I could never get into Georgie James. I never listened to Q and not U (mainly because it's a stupid name) so I don't know if I like their stuff.
Well, I will still go out of my way to see Laura solo.
As for DC and our high hopes? At least we've still got Chuck Brown. And I hear there are some great jam bands from NOVA. And the ashes of Fugazi in an urn in the Smithsonian.
I had high hopes for Dead Meadow and Thao Nguyen and the Get Down Stay Down. But they all moved to California. Boo. And the two chicks left Le Loup.
At least Benjy Ferree has a new album coming out soon.
