Aside from the fact that I always feel (in my heart of delusional hearts) that Leslie and I would be the bestest of friends if only we were to meet, it is a slow news day today AND Feist has a new video out!
Just now.
For “I feel it all”. Check it out and wish for campfires and sailor shirts:
But, wait, not only is it a new video but it has been made by the same man (Patrick Daughters) who also made Mushaboom, 1234 and “My Moon My Man”. Which then had me powering through the Feist video archives (I have Thursday mornings off, OK?) and decided to do a little clip retrospective for you. As a mental massage, of sorts:

first, the Patrick Daughters gems:
Mushaboom
Which is like Feist’s Barakka stop motion postcard.
My Moon My Man
Sort of like the beginning of the Graduate but with more action. And more perfectly choreographed single motion shots Daughters is at this point making Feist’s signature.
and the now ubiquitous “1234″ (i still like it, not even all that ipod over-exposure could ruin for me)
but
what my empirical (if somewhat obsessive) research uncovered is that the woman has made a well edited collection of 3 minute intimate portraits for an insane amount of her songs that ACTUALLY MAKE YOU LIKE HER MORE.
So here goes:
one evening
Which is like one of those cheesy dance videos that flood the youtubes crossed with the way you imagine Charlotte Gainsbourg probably dances when she dances with Ivan Attal, when they do dance.
sea lion woman
In which, Feist covers Nina Simone’s “Sea Lion Woman” (from her third LP The Reminder) in this webisode mixing footage from both studio and stage. 99% of population is obviously just not cool enough to hang in here.
and finally
inside and out
which is the song that made Feist happen for me. All I can think of is, rented cars, LA, girls singing along and driving to meet people that are glad to see you. Which is somewhat diametrically different from this intimate black and white “so-intimate-it-hurts” video but hey, nothing is perfect.
Though this song almost is.
are you relaxed now?
good.
hottest. jew. ever.

January 24, 2008 at 3:04 pmIt’s like the Fourth of July in January; I’m warm all over.
Thanks, Svet.
Upon further consideration of 1234, I lament the sad fact the smooth moves featured in the video did not become a popular line dance. You know, kinda like the hipster version of The Electric Slide or The Achey-Breaky Heart.
In lieu of a new dance craze, maybe BYT should coordinate a remaking of the video. I would like that very much. I would like definitely volunteer to be one of the purple people.
January 24, 2008 at 5:09 pmI think Miss Robin would make a beautiful wife. Brilliant suggestion - I’ll be wearing my yellow jumpsuit waiting for you…

Have you heard the Chromeo remix of Feist’s Sea Lion Woman? It’s pretty amazing.
