Brightest Young Things

BYT attended the Nouvelle Vague concert at the French EMbassy on the brisk eve

of September 20th.

BYT also made a point of sitting front row center at this event.

BYT loved it.

The Submarines opened, all twinkly voiced and charming, with a tambourine and an air flute to boot, and they prepped the stripey sweatered, floppy haired, mostly french speaking audience (present company excluded) for what was to come.

And what came was:

a magical melange of Bossa inspired covers of everything from:

X("Making plans for Nigel") through Billy Idol ("Dancing with myself") to "I just can't get enough".

We listen to Nouvelle Vague on our ipods all day every day, but it DOES NOT compare to the live show:

the singers channel a sexier, kinkier Jane Birkin circa her days of sin with Serge and

a wide eyed, lolita with a breathly voice and a saucy shoulder respectively.

They shimmy, they shake, they have wonderful audience rapport and during

a

particularly outstanding "Too drunk to fuck!" (at the embassy, at the embassy!)

they danced with the audience (KC blushed as he twirled them) and made the whole

Maison Francaise collectively chant with them.

can i have a "fuck" please?

yes.you.may.

as Sarah and Ivy stated at the end:

I don't want it to be over. I am not done with them yet,

can they please just come and stay in our living rooms,

forever?

we could not agree more.

crappy photos ensue.

with bubbles to boot.

God loves a cheerful giver.
