This week Svetlana took a break from creating this column, so your favorite new BYT intern will be presenting the opening acts that you surely do not want to miss if you decide to venture out into the cold this weekend to The Cat or The Hotel. I skipped chilling her Evian to write this, so don’t tell her that it isn’t cold. I’ll get my ass kicked.
There really isn’t a whole hell of a lot going on, so if you get drunk early off shittily homemade eggnog check out the following opening acts. All two of them.
Yea, this weekend pretty much sucks. Not gonna lie.

Vandaveer aka Mark Charles is the District’s own folk extraordinaire. Now I’m not really into the whole stripped down acoustic guitar thing, but Vandaveer is an entire story all together. Two parts grim, one part depressing and a pinch of cloudy day coolness, I get lost in Charles’ songs the second they begin. It’s perfect for the “indie dance.” Don’t pretend you don’t know what it is. I know you all do it. Plus, Charles wears a top hat. What’s not to love?

Is this or is this or is this not the best bio written ever???
“We all met when we were forced to ride through a haunted house in the same trolly. By the end of the ride we had written and recorded our first 7”. We were called Lost at Sea for the first year until the record company asked what it meant. Now we’re Ravens and Chimes.
To think, I could have written a record sounding like a five-piece Bright Eyes infused with the hipness of The Annuals after riding through The Haunted Mansion at Disneyworld… Maybe then all of my dreams of underground indie stardom would have come true.Regardless, they’re awesome. Go.
