When joining the fray for a big music festival, it’s always important to have a game plan — even if large chunks of it usually get lost in the wash somewhere along the way thanks to LSD or running into a tire slashing redneck.
This weekend many of you will be heading up to Baltimore’s Pimilco race track for the third annual Virgin Festival, and you might be asking yourself, should I leave The Offspring early to catch Citizen Cope? Foo Fighters or Jack Johnson??? Never fear, BYT is once again at your service! Here is our game plan for making the most of the two day fest!
Saturday
It’s really hot and crowded, stay home
Sunday
Ditto

this post seems oddly familiar
August 7, 2008 at 4:52 pmbyt is too cool for bob and iggy?
seriously though, i’m going for KT Tunstall.
August 7, 2008 at 5:15 pmI’ll admit I’m a little excited since I was given my tickets, but I don’t think I would have paid for them. The line up would have to be wayyy better for me to fork over $200 bucks.
But I digress,
…its all about CAT POWER, gogo bordello and bloc party (my favorites) on Sat (and Wilco and the FOOs, but I have to work that night–SHITBALLS! Damn the man!).
..its all about STP and Nine inch nails on Sunday…although you might see my white ass at black keys and Lil’ wayne—call me curious. But the rest seems either dated or falls into the mehh category.
This is my first virginfest (insert pun here). Anybody that I haven’t mentioned that is a must see?!!
August 7, 2008 at 6:12 pmi’m too old for an outdoor clusterfuck like this, but there are a few very good bands. this seems a little bitter, cale. why even write about an upcoming music event if you don’t support it, but only trash it? not a sermon; just a thought.
August 7, 2008 at 6:18 pmNIN would be nice to see….
but, can’t shoot it - so I’m a bit bitter….
:-P
@eddie anyone with a pulse has probably heard the entire catalog of every act performing at Virgin. love it or hate hate it, the line up is nothing new or exciting. writing a guide would be pointless
August 7, 2008 at 7:37 pmi am going to be on a beach somewhere in delaware running around naked and smearing myself with marshmallow fluff but you should go see underworld. “techno!?” i hear you say. naw, it ain’t like that, kid. just dance around like a fool. they are one of the best live shows if you like to boogie. if you don’y like to boogie, may the lord (of the dance) have mercy on your soul. i’m out.
August 7, 2008 at 8:42 pmWell I am going with my siblings as a gift on saturday and I’m excited about swell season (people from that Once movie playing those songs and others…) and Sharon Jones with a big stage. Plus, I got a hot tip on a horse. Cmon #7!!
August 7, 2008 at 10:47 pmdan (and silent cale) - true that unless you haven’t seen one of the bands live that you may like and wanted to.
so why bother writing anything? that was my point. whatever. it doesn’t matter.
did Eddie just quote Lon Solomon’s radio tag line?
another recovered alcoholic cum preacher
head of McLean Bible Church
wow
last year’s lineup was the best
this year isn’t worth it
CSS performing tonight in Philly kills
why not coming back for the festival?
maybe cause the 2nd album doesn’t measure up to the first?
glad i’m not wasting my health, time and money on this
August 8, 2008 at 12:53 amI’ll be there. But I get to go for free, I’ll be roller skating at 1 and 6 tomorrow and 1:30 and 6 on Sunday.
Seriously, roller derby is way more interesting to watch than Bob Dylan. So…come watch, we’ll be in the back by the grandstand area.
But when I’m not skating, I’m going to see Cat Power, Iggy, Gogol, Bloc Party, Swell Season, She & Him, Chromeo, and the Silver Beats - who get a 30 minute set prior to the Chuck Berry set.
August 8, 2008 at 9:07 amyeah, lily, you nailed it (though it *was* a joke).
and $200 to get a ticket?? fuck that.
