So Svetlana and I like this idea of waking up every morning to a new BYT-approved song. New, old, obscure, obvious, doesn’t matter. I’m gonna go with old and obscure this morning, but instantly loveable. Loveable in that cold underground French no-wave synth pop sort of way.
The song is Mae by the band Artefact, taken from the wonderful compilation “So Young So Cold: Underground French Music 1977-1983″. I just went digging through my closet and couldn’t find it in the “V’s” for “Various” so I don’t have any liner notes to go on here but it’s a safe bet that it’s from France circa 77-83. The band was started by Maurice G. Dantec who is now a wacky right wing bestselling sci-fi writer.
He called it “Hard-Muzak”. I call it 3 min and 18 sec of awesome. Enjoy.

I don’t know about ya’ll; but the first thing I noticed was that wee bunny.

I support this idea.
And baby bunnies.
as i relayed to Cale last night
this song was Ladytron’s opener in Baltimore before they took the stage
i too wholeheartedly support baby bunnies
and other baby animal cuteness
because human babies are not cute
to me

This is indeed a great compilation.
