BYT’s Favorite Song of the Day

BYT’s Favorite Song of the Day

Last night we ate at Fogo de Chao.  If you’re not familiar, it’s an all you can eat Brazillian steakhouse.  Men with gaucho pants swoop by with slabs of meat and slice you off a chunk.  Forever.  It’s quite possibly the most amazing restaurant on the planet.  They also have great breaded cheeseballs.  Here’s when the Meat Puppets were a buzz band for a week in 1994:

Cale - you do realize that for about $30 less you can go there for lunch and have the exact same food served, right?

Maybe not.

I just wish there was a non-fancy Brazilian steakhouse in DC. The concept isn’t anything new; in Brazil you can find a ton of restaurants doing the same thing at much better prices mixed in with the more expensive places. I don’t think you can find that in the US outside of Newark or Boston.

Of course, you don’t get the fake gauchos but a regular waiter/meat-slicer works just fine.

There is a Brazilian steakhouse out on Rockville Pike called “Greenfields” that runs about $25 a plate (or did, the last time I went, and it’s been years). Anyway, I’m sure it’s still quite a bit less than the $45 plates at Fogo.
