It is going to be a big fall for us and you: BYT is exceptionally proud to present (with help from our friends at LiveNation) a series of amazing shows in September, October and November at the 6th and I Synagogue.
You will inevitably hear tons more about this from us (you know how we get when excited about things) but since tickets for them are going on sale today, we figured we may as well give you a little sneak peak at what is in store:
in order of appearance:
Why we are and you should be excited: Fresh off the trail of touring with everyone’s favorite Icelanders Sigur Ros (and not only as their opening band, but ALSO as their string section) Sólrún, María, Edda and Hildur bring their dreamy, languid pop and their many, many instrument cases (for violins, cellos, violas, mandolins, laptops, crystal glasses, everything but the kitchen sink etc.) to America.
And we get to see them first.
And hug them.
Need more: Listen to various tracks from their absolutely dreamy debut “Kurr” here

Why we are and you should be excited: I mean how could we not be? Freak Folk’s favorite vagabond (and the man that helped everyone from Vashti Bunyan to CocoRosie get their unique sound (back) on), style icon and overall man crush plays the kind of music that could have been recorded a 100 years a go, and will still be relevant 100 years from now: sweeping yet quivering, compared to everyone and everything from Billie Holiday to Beck to Tiny Tim, it will obviously be a sound AND a sight to behold.
Have to hear more: Stream a bunch of Cripple Crow songs here

Why we are and you should be excited: Another Icelandic wonder (is there something in the water there?) Mum started out back in 1997, fresh eyed and bushy taile and recorded a stellar debut album called “Yesterday Was Dramatic, Today Is OK” which had press heralding them as “the best electronica since Aphex Twin”. Now almost a decade later (but still young and decidedly bushy tailed) they are making their way to DC for us to celebrate the release of their new “Go Go Smear The Poison Ivy” which is due out in September.
Expect:a combination of decks, effects, laptops, toy microphones, old cassette player recordings and vocals, coupled with their own recorded material, strange electronic covers by friends, gypsy folk music and general craziness on stage and if we’re lucky maybe even a bit of that special “Battleship Potemkin” score they did a few years back.
Want More: Poke around their random summer website here
Expect: exclusive interviews, giveaways, maybe even some afterparties, but if you are ready and steady to go get your tickets NOW (they go on sale at noon) you can do so here.
