I receive a ton of albums in the mail from PR firms each week. With the amount of new music I actively seek out it's hard to find time to care about a lot of these random low budget discs that pile up next to my computer. When they have ugly album art and even uglier fonts they get moved even further down the pile. Today though I gave one of these discs a chance, possibly because it was the ugliest of them all. Hailing from Queensland, Australia they're a diverse seven piece called The Middle East. The EP's opener The Darkest Side is a gorgeous track for fans of Fleet Floxes and Bon Iver. Currently unsigned in the US they'll be at SXSW and Coachella this year. I've been listening to it on repeat, good stuff, I learned my lesson:

God loves a cheerful giver.
You can get this on eMusic and other outlets for those interested. Good call as I have been listening to this for awhile. They have started playing "Blood" quite a bit on xmu and the like. Not unsigned for long... (if that is even still the case.)
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight! I came across them on youtube and I agreed with the sounds resonating from my shit... and by shit I mean my speakers.
This is a great EP. Chess Club put it out in the UK on vinyl, but you can still get the CD from the band website.
