Brightest Young Things

Let me geek out a little, if you want the goods just scroll on down.

Want to know how to re-release a vinyl only album on CD the right way?

Just look at 2004's The Name of This Band is Talking Heads. Originally issued in 1982, this two LP set is an even better live Talking Heads album than 84's soundtrack to Stop Making Sense. And that's saying a lot considering Stop Making Sense is the greatest concert film of all time (eat it Last Waltz). Ok, so they remastered the hell out of the original recordings and it sounds AMAZINATING. But as if that wasn't enough, they added 16 (16!) additional live recordings, and not tacked on as bonus tracks either but integrated into the mix where they were supposed to be. They even tell you how to re-program your CD player if you want to listen to it in it's original order. Thanks! The liners are ridiculous. Want to know who their sound guy was on the 1979 tour? It was Frank Gallagher. So disc 2 is the real showstopper with the 10 person lineup from the 80-81 Remain in Light tour, BUT, disc 1 contains the album highlight, the concert only tune 'A Clean Break' (aka Let's Work aka Wash That Love Away). Recorded live at Northern Studio in Maynard, MA in November of 1977. It's as good as anything that appears on their debut album. Mind meltingly good. Enjoy. Sing along. Be happy.

Here is a cute pic of David Byrne I drew that he signed at a show a few years ago:

The second disc of "The Name of This Band..." is probably the greatest set of live recordings ever committed to tape.

Thank you. Just what the doctor ordered today, and so necessary.
